kngojcParticipantI’m still a Gophers fan so I look out for how this guy is playing. He was rising up the 2012 draft boards like crazy almost cracking into the lottery (he got as high as 15th pick I think). I still think he’s a lottery talent kinda guy. How much do you think his ACL injury affects his stock in the upcoming draft?

NbanflguyParticipantGopher fan here also. We just cant catch a break
His draft stock is probably affected alot. Pretty sure he had a similar injury as a freshman at Marquette

kngojcParticipantI know he had an injury at Marquette, idk if it’s the same kinda thing or what but man I love this guy’s game and am hoping he gets back into the first round. If not, he’ll be a steal in the second round. He’ll be like a DeJuan Blair kinda guy if he drops into the second.

fastdanParticipantHe won’t be able to do workouts come draft time. He’ll be lucky to get picked in the second, ala De’Sean Butler. Regardless, he’ll be on a team next year, because by training camp he’ll be able to play, just not at 100%, so his roll in his first year will be up in the air. But hopefuly someone takes the risk, and is patient with him. Heartbreaking to see this happen to guys in college.

Aran SmithKeymasterIt’s possible that he will decide to apply for a medical redshirt season and attempt to build his stock back up to first round for 2013. He would also be able to focus all of his focus towards basketball after he graduated.
If not, he would probably be a high to mid second. He’s a better prospect than Butler and he went in the 40s, but how severe team doctors determine the injury to be would also factor in.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantSpeaking of De’Shaun Butler..I know he was drafted by the Heat..But they didn’t sign him..
Didn’t the Spurs sign him to some type of contract toward of end of last season?

RUDEBOY_ParticipantThat’s a Shame about Mbakwe get hurt…He got off to a great start….Some scouts said he might’ve been the 1st Senior Selected….

kngojcParticipantI think it would be good for him and the Gophers especially if he redshirted.. but that would also mean coming out of college into the draft he’d be around 24 years old. He doesn’t seem to be the kinda guy that’s about the money or the fame, but about the love of basketball. I hope he goes to a team (if he goes into the draft this year) like the Celtics or Bulls where he could be a huge role player on a championship caliber team.

JoeWolf1What the hell happened to Sampson III? He was a rising player as a freshman and soph, but fell off the map. Has he just not improved? I really don’t watch much Minnesota bball so I was hoping you’d know since you’re a fan.

kngojcParticipantHe’s the softest bigman I’ve ever seen. He seems almost allergic to the paint from how often he just takes jumpers. He holds the ball too low so guards can steal it from him and he isn’t strong enough to handle even college post players. I don’t see him getting drafted at all. Euro ball or Dleague for that guy.

kobyzParticipanti have been comparing Mbakwe in his game to Kenyon Martin, now i guss he has another thing in common – injuries.
