paradigmnParticipantLETS GET REAAAAADY 2 RUMBLE!!!!…http://nationalhoopsreport.net/2011/05/19/travis-leslie-says-he-is-better-than-tony-allen-kind-of/

MagikKnickParticipantLOL. Tony Allens right though, Leslie has no business saying hes BETTER than Tony Allen, he should of been happy to be compared to Tony Allen and have called it a day…especially when your a mid-second rounder

paradigmnParticipant100 percent!!!

mikeyvthedonParticipantUnfortunately, he said it to the wrong person obviously. This is a period of time where all of these guys have yet to play in the league, and are coming from a situation where they are better than most people. What Travis Leslie did not realize when he said that, was that Tony Allen was once in that same situation as well, winning Big 12 POY his last year.
All of these guys have much higher aspirations than being Tony Allen, but he unfortunately thought out loud and now looks like a dope. Feel sorry for him, but welcome to the life Travis Leslie. He should be incredibly happy if he ends up having as solid of a career as Tony Allen has had thus far, and their are definite similarities between the two.
But, when you get compared to a person, it is best just to say, "Alright, well, we will see", rather than anything negative. It should be something that fuels you to get to a level or be better, not something that has you talking about already being at that level. My guess is, I want to see what was said for him that caused him to say what he did. Sounds like a pretty bad interviewer lead to this, but, he said it, hopefully he will learn from it. Still, it was a dumb thing to say, and he should only wish he is as good as Tony Allen.

paradigmnParticipantI think you know the answer to that…I will respect the wishes of theis website.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantNice post, but all this talk does not matter we will see in a few years if he is better then Tony Allen. If he really believes that he is better then him then fine, but he better come out and prove it on the court.

BKKnicksfanParticipantThat post said he was a 1st round pick……

mikeyvthedonParticipantMan, chill on that. I think on the vast majority, if you follow the draft as closely as we do, we use different sources. I will see the interview, as will a number of people. You really do not need to post it, and where ever you get your info is cool man. Some of us might not use other resources, but I think on the whole we all do, so there is no need to post it.
If you feel the need to talk about something on there, by all means do it, and I have attributed things to DX before, but on the whole, we go there, but you cannot interact there, which is why we prefer it here. I for one find this sites insight is all in all better than the final word of a Leprechaun, and I really do not like that this whole thing has had his name all over it. Just in pretty poor taste. Leslie should have been ready, but he is still being put on blast for saying something he wishes he could have taken back or was not able to explain fully.

paradigmnParticipantdude..im new to this site…i got ripped on about posting something from DX…so I made that comment…Im respecting this site…simple.

McDunkinJonathan Givony…Stop Snitchin..or "thop thitchin" as he might say

mikeyvthedonParticipantBut you have done this a few times. We get it. Not trying to start anything and no need to get defensive. I like you as a poster and think you are passionate, but no need to beat a dead horse. I was just giving you insight into some of the posters here and how it all works. When I see something posted from DX, it is usually something that is already on here or gets posted here a second later. I see you like dropping news articles and vids, but just breaking down that some of it could possibly be redundant, especially if it is from DX.

sheltwon3ParticipantSome people may have issues with what was said. It was not the smartest thing to say but if he proves he is better. It is not like Tony Allen’s full body of work have been that impressive. If Leslie winds up being Jason Richardson then possibly he is better than Tony Allen. Right now I doubt that but I am sure that it was his competitive side. I think people forget that being cocky can sometimes come with being one of the best but it looks stupid when you dont produce. Imagine how we would view Kobe or MJ if he sucked.
I am tired of the political correct and playing saying what people want to hear all the time, sometimes you need to be honest or keep your mouth shut. The only times people want you to be honest is if you are saying something they like. You say the truth they dont like and then something is wrong with you. You can’t have it both ways.
I think if Tony Allen really replied he was dumb because he should understand the situation.

surveParticipantI dont think it was a stupid thing to say, he was honest. It was not the politically correct thing to say but I could give a flip about that. The only thing I say about the statement is…if he is less of a success he will be remembered as setting that bar for himself, but not being able to go beyond that bar. Someone once told me when I was a young b-baller.."if you THINK someone is a better player than you, then they are"

paradigmnParticipantwhy even tell me not to make that comment I just made???…not like I made a bad comment…you should just keep it moving…no need to rustle the feathers

DanEboyParticipantRemember when Tony Allen had those death threats against him from some Chicago thugs? I wonder what happened to that. I remember reading that the police even said that people should stay clear of Allen considering the source of the threats.

paradigmnParticipantdid you hear about this before I posted it???…was it reduntant???..if so…I apologize…just trying to get information out there…sorry.

mikeyvthedonParticipantMaybe you missed what I was trying to say it:
- You keep bringing up DX (or, saying, I will respect the wishes of this site, so on)
- You posted nothing redundant, just saying you do not have to keep bringing it up
- Not trying to ruffle any feathers, just know there was that epic post earlier and have seen you talk about it since, you do not have to
- If this ruffles your feathers, I am sorry, but I see nothing offensive in what I said, just trying to let you know that you do not have to keep bringing it up. We know you are trying to respect this site. Just keep doing what you are doing, but I think you know that you do not have to keep talking about the original thing you are warned about.
- Sorry for telling you to "chill", did not know that was offensive.

paradigmnParticipantokay…my bad dude….I LOVE this site…and I follow your comments as well…you know your basketball…as do many others on this site…sometimes "talking" on the internet doesnt come across the way that it would in "real life"…I am well aware of the beef between Dx and this site now…I will act accordingly.

mikeyvthedonParticipantTo say you are better than a guy who has been a solid NBA role player, an All league defender playing fantastic D against some of the best players in the world and has won a ring. When you put it that way, seems like he was right!
"if you THINK someone is a better player than you, then they are"
I do not think anyone was saying, "Well, we think Tony Allen is better than you". He was probably trying to compare him to Tony Allen, and you do not have to say anything about you being a better or worse player. It was a pretty stupid thing to say, and he hopefully learns from it. Let him play in the NBA, better yet, be drafted to play in the NBA before saying he is better than a guy who played a starting role on a play-off team.
Paradigmn, we are totally cool. Glad everything is squashed.
McDunkin, you are the only person I am fighting with about John Henson’s sister.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantSince entering the league not only Tony become 1 of the best defenders..He has expanded his game alot and the ability to play some point…Leslie looks like a 1 dimensional D-League player that will make a roster in a year or 2….

NiceWithTheRockParticipantHe should ask OJ Mayo if shxt talking Tony Allen is a good idea.

JNixonParticipantI see Leslie’s upside as more Desmond Mason than Tony Allen. Leslie will be a better scorer than Allen has been, I think (and hope, after saying he will be better than the man…c’mon Leslie! lol)
Still, Leslie was wrong to say he was flat out better. He better make sure he can put his money where his mouth is though. I’m rooting for Leslie since I’ve met him a couple of times, but man he created a little whirlwind here

McDunkinHold on Mikey. It was all good just a thread ago.
You are the one that wanted to be Pauly D and visit Jerseys shore!!! Therefore im chilling with John Hensons girlfriend (aka your "boo" on facebook)!!! Dont worry though we’re just playing a nice game of 21 (+48) and let me tell you…that wingspan runs in the family…so do good hands…she can palm a ball…or two!
Eye for an eye Mikey Vick…eye for an eye!

mikeyvthedonParticipantI finally looked up a pic of Ms. Amber Henson. Not only is she going to Duke, but I hath thoroughly decided you can keep her. Oh, paradimn, with McDumbo, it is never personal, strictly business. Unfortunately, business is not going to well……….
