highflyer0ParticipantAveraging 35 and 10 his last 5 games. Luka will be rookie of the year, but wow. Incredibly gifted passer with 25 ppg potential. Special stuff.

BeastMode716ParticipantI Luv’s this trade for Both teams – some in the media tried to make this into Tatum / Fultz 2.0 when it happened
But Atlanta had a very clear plan of how they wanted to play in their Rebuild, they brought in former Phila 76ers Asst Lloyd Peirce b/c Atl wanted to play a pace & space offense built around stretching the defense w/ long range 3’s & transition offense off a Defense that featured super quick smart athletes
What Dallas is building looks Amze-Balls! I Luv it! Luka is having a Historically Great Rookie season
But the Hawks got something nice cookin in the ATL!
Trae Young was adamant at the Draft that he is young & asked the fan base for patience b/c he knew he needed to Develop physically & mentally at the NBA level – & Young, while he is not Doncic – is pretty damn special in his own right
What I Luv’d about Young coming out of Oklahoma is that Young is a Nightmare for Defenses b/c he is lightning quick, penetrates off the dribble if you try to smother him behind the 3 pt line, he is a Willing passer – TY has Great vision! – & for a small player Young has an incredible ability to Finish at the Rim or draw a foul to get 2 FT’s
Atl w/ coach Pearce developed a Clear plan & style of play & Young is a Perfect fit for how the Hawks want to play. So I Luv what Atlanta is putting together from the front office to the coaching staff to the players to the style of play & it all combines to put a really exciting product on the court for NBA fans!

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThe thing about trae that amazes me is that he still looks like a kid. Like he could easily pass for a freshman in high school and he’s literally dominating against the highest level of competition in the world. I’ve never seen anything like it. Pretty much every other nba player who has had success as a teenager has at least been ready to compete physically. Once he actually starts to mature, you have to wonder how good he can be.

khaled_a_dParticipantReally loved Trae prior to the draft, remember arguing with many Mavs fans that thought we shouldn’t consider him because of DSJ and I always though he has too much talent to pass on him.
Really liked the trade for both teams, and it seems a little healthy rivalry is built between both Trae and Luka that could fuel their drive to improve throughout their career.
And considering that WCJ was the one we were gonna draft with 5th pick, I can’t say I am happy with this trade regardless of how Trae would end up0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/02/2019 - 12:55am #1130407
Andv1 WaitingParticipantI will give trae this he has done a little better than I thought he would but it is only year 1. So come year 4 if he keeps going the rate he is I believe he might be become a steve nash type player which is pretty good for the hawks, which is proving me wrong so far as I was thinking he might be a jimmer clone due to being such a chucker. I will be interested to see what he will be playing like if they start making the playoffs will they go deep into them or is he will he be still be as good then?
As for the intial trade I was sort of surprised as Luka definitely looked more NBA ready now(I also thought he would go 1-3 range) and would have suited them better if they had kept Dennis S and tried to speed up the rebuild+ we don’t know if Luka said he wouldn’t come or not. But as I sort of said intially they both got what they wanted the Hawks got their Steph Curry/Nash protege and a pick to help with their rebuild that they wanted to do and the Mavs got a player who is going to help speed up the Mavs rebuild as that was obviously their intial plan even before K.P trade.
I will give the Hawks the following though they did draft well in the last 2 seasons: Collins,Trae and Hueter(he looks low key could be something nice)..I kind of want them to get number 1 so they can get Zion and Play Collins at the center,Zion at the PF spot,Insert name here or maybe Butler/Leonard,Hueter and Trae as that would be kind of fun to watch.

Arc12345ParticipantEveryone knows I was not a fan of this trade. But wow, Trae has really turned a corner here.
He looks like he really could be a mix of Nash/Curry. This would make him a top 3 point guard eventually which would be HUGE for the Hawks. And they need him to be that, as Luka looks like a mix of Larry Bird and Lebron James (there’s not really a great comparison for him).
Sure it took him quadruple overtime to put up 49-16-8 but that is one hell of a line regardless of time. He joins Bernard King, Lebron James, and Allen Iverson as the only rookies to score 35+ in three straight games. Also joins Lebron James and MJ as the only rookies to score 40+ and have 10+ assists (granted they probably didn’t need quadruple overtime).
I might have to eat my words on this trade – it really might be a good trade for both in the end. I think it’s fair to say they nailed the Huerter pick and botched the Spellman pick. They need to NAIL these two lottery picks next year.

Memphis MadnessParticipantTrae is balling. Forget ROY, he has been on an MVP pace the past few games.
Kinda forgot who I compared Trae to coming into the NBA. I wanna say I compared to Bob Cousy, but somebody I know doesn’t remember me doing that. Haha. And I wasn’t even the biggest Trae guy out there. Didn’t know if he would be a pure shooter like Steph but the passing and ball handling was there.
Luka is good too. But wow the Hawks have some extra picks. Hawks might win the draft without even getting Zion. Although WITH Zion put ’em in the playoffs next season. Hawks ideal draft gets them either DeAndre Hunter or Cam Reddish as that wing who can defend and score. Size and looks wise Hunter reminds me of a cross between Pippen and Rodman. Pippen without the passing/handling and Rodman without the boards. Or, comparing Sophs to Sophs: a less athletic Michael Jordan. Reddish reminds me of Clyde Drexler for some reason….
One guy I actually like for ATL can be had with one of their second rounders: Tacko Fall. Not super quick but he is an elite rim protector, can rebound, dunk with out jumping, and be a one man zone. Might only be a 15-20 minute per Game Center off the bench but he has a rare/valuable skill set.

Dell87ParticipantI’m telling you , if they can get Zion or barrett and add a glue guy type free agent, they can be dangerous next year.
Pg. Young
Sg. Barrett
Pf Collins
Sf. Prince
C. Vucevic??? Possibly.
Or
Pg. Young
Sg. Huerter
Sf. Prince
Pf. Zion
C. Collins.
That can be competitive lineup . Maybe not playoff bound. But would be a tough matchup every night

chrsw003ParticipantObviously want Zion but, Young/Huerter/Reddish/Collins i like too. Then go BPA based on upside/raw talent with the Mavs pick.

HitsterParticipantTrae was going to take a lot of shots this season but I’ve been impressed with his ball handling too. He is 6th on the assist list when he would be considered the Hawks main offensive threat too. With a likely top 5 pick this year they can add another good asset. If they get lucky in the lottery and land one of the big 3 then it would give Trae immediate scoring support. Plus if they say landed 2nd pick if we assume that Zion goes first they could have suitors wanting to move up to get Morant but they would likely want to ensure they could get RJ so might just take him 2nd. If RJ was likely to go 2nd and Hawks landed 3rd pick they could look to move down and add say Reddish or Rui.
The Dallas picki which is likely to be late lottery could give them another nice pick or if they did end up say 5th or 6th an option to try to trade up if they really fancied RJ. I don’t see any team passing on Zion.
If they did use the Dallas pick then it depends who they take with their own pick if it’s Zion then they might look at Little or Langford as it would give nice options at 2 or 3 and both guys have good wingspans so it gives the team size on defence. If they do take RJ or one of Reddish, Rui or KZ then I think they target a big with the Dallas pick – Bassey would seem logical but they might look at Bol Bol too.
