zmarquisParticipanttrading two proven veterans for two lottery picks in a weak(er) draft doesnt seem like the answer for phoenix. with shaq’s salary most likely leaving, they have plenty of cap room to work with. if flynn makes it to 14, he would make sense for the team’s high offensive game. all in all, phoenix needs to do some soul searching because since d’antoni left, it has only been a desert there

Lemons4LifeParticipantexcellent i believe a pick or 2 from NY could make this a sure deal if the NBA Gm’s ever make a deal…..

BasketballGuru24ParticipantPhoneix is getting cheated , they would need to get new yorks picks and probably memphis 2nd round picks…..but all in all i think this trade is alright.but i really dont think stoudamire and nash will be dealt same time…..i expect nash to be dealt mid-season or stay for the remainder of his contract, but i can’t say the same for stoudimire which will probbaly be dealt, sooner then possible. Seeing a deal with stoudimire going to new york and lee coming over and some other players being packaged will be most likely the case
But nice Trade

jcjParticipantI agree with guru – perhaps a more direct Amare for David Lee +++ would work out better from a talent standpoint, though other players would be needed to make it work for salary cap purposes. Given Amare’s contract of about 15M, a sign and trade with Lee at perhaps 8M + throwing in Quentin Richardson for another 8M (or another player or combination of players worth the difference between Amare’s contract minus Lee’s contract) would give matching salaries. To make up for the talent gap, Knicks would have to include their 2009 pick and possibly the 2010 first rounder.

knicksfreakParticipantThe knicks are getting cheated. They give up their best young player for Darko who is garbage and a 35 year old Nash. No way. Terrible trade. Phoenix gets the best rebounder in the league, a great young point guard, and a pick in the best draft since ’03. They’re making out the best.

Scott42444ParticipantHow is that bad for Phoenix? They get the double-double machine Lee, they get the PG replacement they are looking for in Rubio (if people think that Flynn dropping to #14 is what Phoenix would want, they should feel Phoenix would be pleased with Rubio) and a 2010 1st rounder from terrible Memphis? After 2009-2010, both Nash and Amare will probably be gone. How would trying to replace them with young, well thought of talent a bad thing? According to this site’s mock, there are the likes of Ed Davis, Greg Monroe, Derrick Favors, etc. in the top of the 2010 lottery. I think that Davis, Lee, and Rubio would be better than the nothing they could get instead. For the record, I could care less about any of these teams. I just see a few guys feel that Phoenix is getting the short end of the stick here and I respectfully disagree. I don’t think they are looking at it right.

knicksfreakParticipantWe dont even have a 2010 first rounder. we dont need to trade for Amare. I guarantee we sign him next year.

j1232eParticipantthat phoenix – ny. trade was so wonderfull Ny has treid to hold onto that pick for years and years. however the suns were the stupid ones they where more stupid for trading Tom Gugliotta and NY first to utah for keon clark and ben hanglatin. Years later Utah will get a top three next year.
