This first part of this post is older news but i felt it important to give a little background info on this topic (may 27th when colangelo signed his 2year extension):

While Bryan Colangelo, the Toronto president and general manager, said the title and role of his new hire is yet to be determined, he acknowledged the ongoing reorganization of his front office could even involve bestowing his GM title on someone else.“I’m thinking about bringing in a high-level basketball person to strengthen our management team,”Colangelo said. . . . Colangelo was speaking on Thursday after CBSSports.com reported that the Raptors were seeking a replacement for Maurizio Gherardini, the vice president of basketball operations whose contract expires June 30. Colangelo disputed the report, saying that while he has yet to address Gherardini’s future
    — “I’d like to have (Gherardini) back,” he said — the search for new blood isn’t a push to fill a soon-to-be-empty office.

Now today I came across this on twitter:

Jeff Bower, Dennis Lindsey and Ed Stefanski frontrunners for Toronto GM job under president Bryan Colangelo, sources tell Y! Story up soon.

    https://twitter.com/#!/WojYahooNBA/s…75398408126464

    Now here are my questions:

    1. How large of a role and how much say would this new GM have with BC still president?

    2. Im honestly not that familiar with the potential GM’S all i really know is:

Jeff Bower is the former GM of the Hornet who was responsible for putting Chandler and Paul on the same time. Dennis Lindsey has worked as an assistant GM for the Spurs and three seasons as director of player personnel with the Rockets. Stefanski is the current GM for the 76ers.

Anyways…who would be the best fit for the raptors?

Assistant GM…not replacement for BC. Lindsay is the best fit, he was succsessful in a great organization that has a defensive mentallity and always seems to make the right decisions.

@riley – no I meant which GM would be the best fit

@ohcanada – Yes they would work in collaberation with one another and my original question was answered by the toronto sun today

With new head coach Dwane Casey’s staff in place, Bryan Colangelo is getting serious about beefing up his front office.

For a number of months, the word has been that Colangelo, the Raptors president and general manager, was considering, if the right candidate came along, dropping the GM portion of his portfolio – at least in title – and handing it to somebody else.

That wouldn’t mean the new addition would have final say though. While a fan of a consensus, brainstorming approach, Colangelo has always been an executive who gets the final word and that would not change.

But with the Maple Leafs building up a front office group around Brian Burke that is the envy of the NHL, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, Ltd. appears set to see the Raptors follow suit.
