21yoGMParticipantThought the first half the OK ST. vs KU
Joel Embiid is clearly the best pro prospect I have seen today. He impacts the game on both ends. He glides up and down the court effortlessly and can outrun guards in transition. Tonight he is constantly getting as deep in the paint as he chooses on each offensive possession but KU has missed him a more then a few times. He has better shooting then Marcus Smart. It’s hard to imagine but I think Embiid should be the consinsis number 1 pick in 2014
Wiggins- playing with a lot of confidence in his jumpshot tonight. He is said to be an elite athlete but strength is a major part of athleticism and he is lacking that at this point, which causes him to struggle when trying to finish in traffic. He does have good form and balance on his jumper. He uses his spin move to often when attacking the basket, the move has become predictable at this point. He has shown flashes on both offense and defense that few wings can match. He is surely going to be the 2nd or 3rd player drafted.

21yoGMParticipantMarcus Smart- great defender. he’s guarding Andrew wiggins and is doing as good a job as anyone while giving up 4 to 5 inches. He can’t buy a bucket tonight. He’s just not a shooter at all or should I call him streaky. The main reason is his shooting motion isn’t fluid. He’s struggling to make the proper reads of when to pass and shoot and his midrange game doesn’t exist. But saying all that if he can some how figure how to sure up these areas of his game he will be a starting pg in the nba.
Julius Randle- stuggled tonight due to the fact he tries to dice his way 5 feet towards the basket when he had a much easier shot at 8 feet. I think he isn’t allowed much freedom to shot a jumpshot of doesn’t have enough confidence to take them but he needs to do that to keep the defense honest. I don’t think that will be a problem for him at the next level. He rebounded great tonight. He will probably be the first PF of the board draft night.

CodySLCParticipantHow about the struggles by Marcus Smart. Even his passes seem to be off. Coming off the suspension it’s understandable, but you’d still expect more from him.

druneave3ParticipantHasn’t there always been questions about his decision making? Only talking about on-court, with the basketball. This has nothing to do with the fan. I would have been cool with him knocking dude out, given a one game suspension and be done with it (meanwhile Jeff Orr can’t attend another home game, ever).
Smart has been terrible tonight and Jay Bilas has commented several times about his decision making. Early in the season I heard how he had improved in this area, along with his outside shooting. Has he really improved in either area all that much when it really comes down to it? I have compared him with Jason Kidd in the past but I think I was buying into the hype of this draft and perhaps overrating him. I hate all the flopping too.
Embiid and Wiggins continue to improve. I have Exum #3 after those two.

MopgrassParticipantI think Markel Brown is the #2 SG in the draft (I still need to watch one more guy before standing by that) I think he’s a real competitor. He makes things happen when it counts. He has a good shot from everywhere and he can really get up. He’s only 6’4", but he has a huge wingspan and utterly massive hands.

King CaluchaParticipantWiggins has been playing well. He just made a 3-point play off pull up J against Smart. Overall pretty solid game, in my opinion.
Embiid is 1 rebound away from tying his career high.

max23ParticipantSmart isn’t a good shooter, and takes extremely stupid shots that are basically turnovers especially for a point guard..But im impressed how he can impact the game in all areas.

King CaluchaParticipantIMHO Smart had a mediocre-to-bad game except for the last 3 minutes. He hit important shots in the last games and that’s it.

jwall1ParticipantBased off of tonight….
Randle: Great player, struggled tonight, but the defense in the paint made it nearly impossible to get there due to the fact he was triple teamed all night. Besides that, his motor and defensive effort were good IMO.
Embiid: Great as always, very fluid. Hes really separating himself from Wiggins as being the top prospect on Kansas. Hopefully his back will be ok.
Wiggins: He was alright, but he lost the match-up against Marcus Smart… He needs to get stronger in order to become a better finisher. His freakish athleticism and pogo stick like hops were on display tonight.
Smart: Awful 1st half (terrible shot selection, forcing his offense), but the second half really showcased what he does best. His hustle on the boards, defense, getting to the rim, and passing were excellent. There is no way he slips outside of the top 5 in the draft, and if he does, it will be a huge mistake. His killer instinct and passion to win is unteachable. In the second half he completely owned the Wiggins match up. He really reminds me of Russell Westbrook (minus that freakish athleticism). Both have similar strengths and weaknesses.

NeggedFolyfebased off tonite wiggins is a purley upside pick he disappears a lot. Marcus smart is still a winner to me he gets it done and joel isn’t a top pick if not for anything else you still have to consider the fact he always gets hurt or is sore and has to ride the pine. Things like this don’t go away with strength training sometimes its just the persons brittle bones and body.
