With March Madness right around the corner I thought Id make a post getting everyone up to speed with the top freshman Canadian talent this year. None are big names like Andrew Wiggins or RJ Barrett but this freshman class has depth and four of these guys are currently in nbadraft.net mock drafts as 1st round picks (Gilgeous-Walker, Brissett, Alexander-Walker, Wigginton).

     1.Shai Gilgeous-Alexander-Kentucky-PG-6’6 180

High upside. Two way PG that attacks the rim and can find teammates. Defensive presence using his length. Hits the open shot. Needs to bulk up in order to play multiple positions and add to his versatility next level.

     2.Nickeil Alexander-Walker-Virginia Tech-SG-6’5 210

Silky smooth shooter with a complete offensive game. Basketball IQ is off the charts. Knows how to take advantage of certain matchups and has great court presence but doesnt have the teammates to always do that. Virginia Tech currently only has two players taller than 6’6 and is gaurd dominant. In future years as (G)Justin Bibbs graduates and if they can add more balance to the roster he should be able to showcase more.

      3.Oshea Brissett-Syracuse-PF-6’8 210

Scrappy PF that gets after it on both ends. Still getting used to his newly added 3pt stroke. Is most comfortable attacking the rim with Euro steps and determination. Lives at the foul line 5.8 FTA. Aggressive rebounder that uses fundamentals despite being slight in weight kind of like John Collins in those regards. Lacks strength to finish contested shots and a polished in between game (midrange, pullups, floaters). This forces him to take alot of contested shots deep in the paint, alot of wild shots and miss attempts he should have made.

      4.Lindell Wigginton-Iowa St. PG-6’2 190

Well conditioned and athletic gaurd that uses his strength. He’s a sniper from longrange and his abillity to elevate over defenders allows him to get his shot off from deep at anytime. Shooting 44% from 3PT with 5 attempts per. Good decision maker. More of a scoring gaurd at this point you would like to see him get his teammates involved more often.

     5.Marcus Carr- Pittsburgh- PG-6’1 185

Like Wigginton he is athletic and strong but even more so. Carr reminds me of Eric Bledsoe the way he attacks the rim. His frame and explosiveness makes him hard to stop when attacking. Willing playmaker he gets alot of assists while attacking the rim. Really needs to work on his jumpshot as he is currently posting Lonzo Ball/Josh Jackson type numbers.

     6. Jahvon Blair-Georgetown-PG-6’3 190

      7.Shamiel Stevenson-Pittsburgh-SF-6’6 230

      8.Abu Kigab-Oregon-6’6 220

     9.Emmanuel Akot- Arizona-6’7 200

      10.Josip Vrankic-Santa Clara-6’8 200
