Why would a coach want to play him at PG? At the PG position, you want good decision makers. Wroten is not that. I think Wroten’s future NBA postion is the 2.

I think the reason his stock is so low is because his coach at washington had him play at shooting guard. I’ve been following him since high school and he is in no way a shooting guard or even a cobo guard. He is a true point guard who has good scoring ability. If u watch the Jordan brand classic, where he is on a team with talent around him, you’ll see he loves disributing the ball. Wroten had 16 points and 10 assist IN 16 MINUTES. That was with high school talent, imagine him with nba talent.
Another knock on him is his jumper and decision maling. My reply to that is whle is romdo jumper, where was rose jumper coming out of college? Those are two of the top 3 pg’s in the nba. Rondo still don’t have jumper but his passing ability, rebounding ability, and stealing ability makes him elite. Wroten exceeds in all three of those categories. He is great off the pick and roll and in isolation sitiations which basically the only thing pg’s do nowadays. As far as turnovers go, again d rose, john wall, tyreke evans, and many more lottery picked pointmen had high turnovers and were selected early and fluorished in the nba so why is it a problem with tony wroten?
I can see himbon a team like the jazz. Where he can disribute to their talented big men in the pick&roll or get out on the break with theor young wingmen

I think Wroten could possibly have an Iman Shumpert like impact offensively, but he’s not nearly the defender Shumpert is. Wroten is a bad, gambling defender.

I think Wroten may be able to turn heads in workouts but I think his decision making sucks but I only watched him one game.  I will say this he can get almost anywhere he wants on the court and he can make plays at times so he does has the point guard skills but he needs a lot of seasoning but when he gets it, watch out.

If he could sit behind Nash or Kidd for a year it would do wonders for him.

"I think Wroten could possibly have an Iman Shumpert like impact offensively, but he’s not nearly the defender Shumpert is. Wroten is a bad, gambling defender."

Even with a good defensive reputation (like all things Knicks he was overrated for what he actually did on that end), Shumpert was a lousy offensive player who showed that he couldn’t run the point, make good decisions (i.e. get the ball to Melo), or make perimeter shots. If you think Tony Wroten is similar to Shumpert on offense and not defense, then you are talking about a guy who won’t be able to get on the court.

I didnt watch alot of him at Washington but its crazy how he changed from a pass first guy with amazing court vizion and passing skills coming in, to a guy who’s very turnover prone and more of a scorer than passer. Maybe it’s because he played sg instead of pg. He’s starting to remind me alot like Tyreke Evans, both are great with the ball and terrible off the ball, both are great ball handlers who can get to the rack at will but struggle from the outside, and both can rack up assists without it having much impact on the game because they dont know how to run a team.

To me hes a sure fire lottery pick in terms of talent, but may fall to mid-late first because of his up and down play throught the year and questions about is he a pg or sg. His success early on is going to be determind by what team picks him,  to play what position, and who the coach is and what system they run. Everything is going to have to be in place for him to reach his full potential, thats just the kind of player he is.

i watched at least half his games this past season, and i have no idea how he will do in the pro’s. Huge upside with lots of question marks as well. I think he is gonna have to play pg and i think the IQ thing will come around. But if he cant shoot at all, teams will play off him and his driving ability will be diminished plus most his drives he was kinda soft and would put stuff up that im guessing will get sent into the third row by nba bigs. But if that jumper comes around, and he makes defenders stay honest, hes gonna get wherever he wants on the court and that passing ability and ball handling will be able to shine.

i actually have wroten being taken in the lotto, going to phoenix more specifically. definitely lotto talent type player and i believe towards the end of the lotto, its all a matter of fits since theres severall lotto talents that will get moved out to the mid first to early 20’s part due to the fact that there just isnt enough lotto picks.

Is it me or is this draft particularly full of system guys?  If he gets a guy who can develop 1s, he’ll be great.  Some of the most talented guys in the draft are huge questions – PJ3, Sully, Wroten, Drummond, even Robinson to some extent.  And that’s off the top of my head.  This draft is just so variable that I think most of the success will come down to which teams plan most intelligently.  If Wroten ends up, say, a Hornet he’s a star. A Bobcat or Buck? Not so much.
