I just looked at the comparison for Tobias Harris and saw that it was Kris Humpries/Glenn Rice.  At no point in Harris’s career would I ever say he would be either of those players.  I don’t think Harris can play the 4 effectively in the NBA (not saying he won’t see time at the 4), so that kind of sheds the Humphries comparison.  Nor do I see him ever, ever being as pure a shooter or should even be mentioned in the same sentence as Glenn Rice.

With that being said, I think a more fair comparison would be Shawne Williams of the Knicks.  Both players are taller swingmen that lack great footspeed or ball handling. I could see Harris finding a niche as a knockdown shooter with the right work ethic on developing his jumper.  Just as Shawne Williams, he will see spot time as a 4, but is much more effective as a 3.  Just my opinon, let me know what you guys think.

good point on the nbadraft.net comparison, completely off base. no way tobias ever rebounds like humphries and not many players have ever had a stroke like glenn rice. I don’t really like the Shawne Williams comparison either. Tobias actually does have ball handling ability and he is a pure 3, not a 4 in the NBA. I’d say more like a Richard Jefferson type, not really great at anything but good player overall. Well that was until the last 3 years when RJ fell off the face of the earth…I don’t think Tobias will make an All Star team like RJ did though

You’re right the comparison this site has for him is not right. He will play mostly the 3 and he’s more athletic then his profile says he is. I think he can guard 3’s, and I think he will be a good player. But I don’t think Shawne Williams would work either. Shawne has a very long wingspan which helps him play the 3-4 positions effectively. Tobias on the otherhand relies on his athletic ability to play the 3 and 4 effectively. Shawne is a good outside shooter, and while Tobias has his moments shooting, he is not going to wow you with his shooting ability. He more wow’s you with his defensive ability.

I’m not quite sure who to really compare him to or if my comparison is correct but I’m gonna try and say you can compare him to Trevor Ariza.

Tobias Harris and Glenn Rice in the same sentence:

Tobias Harris has a much different style of play then Glenn Rice

I actually agree with the comparison. Glen Rice wasn’t just a shooter. He can actually post alot being 6-8, so he played some PF at times. While Humpries had a monster rebound season, that was more because of Lopez’ lack of rebounding ability if anything.

You guys do realize that Richard Jefferson was once an explosive athlete. Which something Tobias lacks.
