I am anxious to see how he plays down the stretch here with the minutes he will be getting for Orlando. His defense & rebounding really impressed me tonight & he had 14 points in his debut.
I really like the additions of him & Lamb to this young Magic team. One is 20 & the other 21, but both are very versatile & can play/cover multiple positions & be effective in doing so.
Tobias Harris Debut Highlights:
Also as a 20 year old, if Harris was to be in this years draft would you see him getting picked?
I only ask because Magic GM Hennigan passed on the Bucks 1st round pick for Harris instead, & I really think that was smart choice. Can't see him getting a better prospect where the Bucks will be picking than Harris.
Im liken this magic team for one reason they have 3 new york products in Harris, Lamb, and Harkless hahah. I may be biased but i think all will pan out.
I really like Tobias Harris. I thought he may have declared himself eligible a little too early, but he was put into the perfect position by being traded to the Orlando Magic.
With the Magic in rebuilding mode, and in no way are they going to compete at all this year, this gives the Magic the luxury to play with all of their young, new toys. This means that the team will be handing out opportunities like Bill Gates gives money to charities, and a lot of these young guys can really benefit by getting some early playing time.
I like Tobias Harris' athleticism, as well as his ability to play defense. At the incredibly young age of 20 for a second-year player, Harris has the tools to create a nice offensive game within the first few years of his NBA career. As of right now, his offensive game is very raw and unpolished, but he will have plenty of chances in Orlando to work on his game to bolster his career into the right direction for the future.
Many people think of Tobias Harris as an energy athlete off of the bench who can potentially fill in for both forwards spots, and add energy, toughness, and defense. However, I think that if he adds a consistent perimeter jump shot to his game within the next few corresponding years, Tobias Harris could be a very solid starting forward in the NBA, and the Orlando Magic could be looking at a future All-Star caliber player.
Only time will tell.
big up LONG ISLAND!!!!
I've wathced some of Tobias Harris with the Bucks and I wathced his debut game. He got most of his points and blocks in garbage time, so you really shouldn't pay much attention to that.
It really seems like he doesn't do any one thing well: he's a bad shooter, he rarely drives and hasn't got much of a post game. He's big and strong, but he hasn't learned to use that to his advantage yet. He looks lost on the floor playing with better players around him.
I don't really know what to think of him for now.
I was big on Tobias Harris and Jordan Hamilton late in that draft but it hasn't panned out so far. He is a solid guy who you can tell by his interviews will work hard and thinks its a privilege to play in the League. That alone should keep him from turning into Charlie Villanueva. A Charlie V that's works out and has a good attitude is a good NBA player.
You know the 2013 Draft has to be Weak when a team Refuses a potential lottery pick for a guy that'll be a reserve..........lol
He's a skilled player but did not fit well with the Jennings/Monta back court (well...nobody does really). He's a smart, skilled player with a good face up game, but he needs to improve his defense. He's already completely transformed his body, but the lateral quickness still isn't there for the SF position.
His best position defensively might be the small ball 4. I'd like to see how he and Harkless work together.
2nd game with the Magic.
31 mins off the bench, 16 points on 7-9 shooting, 1-2 from 3, 7 boards, 2 dimes, 1 steal, 1 block, 1 TO.
His offensive game is just so smooth, & I did not expect his D to be as good as it has been. He plays with so much effort & is a very good & aggressive rebounder.
His O has a little Melo in it.
(I said a little) haha
His highlights from his 16 point outing:
Back to back 20+ point games.
Wednesday he had 23 on 9-12 shooting with 6 boards 2 assists & 2 steals

Friday he had 27 on 11-15 shooting with 10 boards 2 assists & 1 steal

He really does look like a baby Melo....especially against the Rockets. (He made Thomas Robinson look little)
good player and still very young... but don't forget nba teams don't do too much "scouting" on relatively unknown players like him before their first perf'.
Let's wait several games and we'll see if he can absorb more apropriate and more precise defense (with more vidfeo and defense scouting).
Always driving to his right (very good right hand and good moves, smart player in O), very few mid range shoot... he will have to develop those points to keep on performing.
