Does anyone see management making any surprise choices or moves with the #1 pick? There’s Towns right there as the obvious answer and I feel like they’re sort of hemmed in by public opinion here (no slight on Towns he looks the part of a #1 pick). But does anyone see them doing something unexpected? The backcourt will continue to be a mess without making any changes so taking Russell/Mudiay seems practical and it looks like Porzingis is getting a lot of hype lately (is that warranted? I’ll be honest outside of highlights I haven’t seen much of him).. Personally I’d like for them to take a shot at Russell but I think at this point their mind is made up. This is almost why I look forward to drafts more when my favorite teams have picks in the 10-15 range, there is just more apprehension and excitement leading up to it (being I’m from MN mostly apprehension)..

This can go for any team, do any of you have any off the wall ideas/hopes/fears for what your favorite teams might do on draft night that no one else is expecting?

If they take anyone other than Towns, they can trade down and get an asset or two from the Lakers or whoever.

Personally I want Towns, because he would give us shot blocking and versatility on the offensive end.

I know that Flip really likes Okafor, and thinks he could be a dominant center.

When you hear Flip talk, trading down doesn’t seem like a real option, but you never know.  I mean LaVine offers similar things as D’Angelo Russell, so why take Russell when you can take a possible allstar center/powerforward

I don’t think the Wolves will do anything with the first pick, other than draft Towns. But after that all bets are off. Flip plays his cards pretty close to the chest. It’s hard to say what he’ll do.
I could see them trading a player like Budinger and one of the second round picks. Or trade both second round picks.
I’m sure they have been making plenty of phone calls trying to find out who’s worth what and seeing what they could get for one of their players. I think it’ll be an interesting night for them.

The Wolves don’t want 3 rookies in an already young team and now that most of the foreign palyers have pulled out of the draft, there will not be much stashing over seas this year.

On top of that they may be dealing with Bjelica during or after the draft.

As for the vets (outside of Rubio and Pek) they’re are all tradable.
