I just want to say I think the Timberwolves have a great future with the players they have. Through the draft they have built a solid and soon to be really good team
pg- Rubio is the future
sg- this is a question mark
sf- wesley is a possibility if he plays well
pf- Love. I think that Beasly and maybe randolpgh should be traded. Letting Williams grow, and he In my opinion is not untouchable
C - Pekovic was a huge find and I really think he can keep it up.
I think they should keep Pek, love, rubio, Williams and then find a good scoring sg, who doesn't hog the rock, maybe in the draft or in free agency. Maybe Eric Gordon (IF he want to and if the wolves have the cash). Also trade beassly while he has value even if it is for a ok pick, remember they got him from miami for just a second rounder
would love to see derrick williams play more of the three. Yes he will struggle but it will only help his development. Williams needs to become a small forward for the wolves to continue to turn the corner to relevance. What do you guys think of the wolves trying to deal for Rudy Ferandez at the deadline? he prolly is not the long term option at the two but he can def bring some production.
Do you prefer Corporal Obvious or Captain Obvious?
beasley is a much better option than johnson at the 3
I'm thinking he should be Staff Seargent Obvious...not quite a leader of obviousness but can fill in if the Captain goes down.
In all seriousness, I agree with that post. The Wolves have come a long way in terms of where they were just 3 years ago, and theyve done it without really cashing in during the draft in terms of finding that monster star like OKC. It has been a classic rebuild and as a Twolves fan, its hard to stay patient, but I think that is what they need to do. If the right kind of deal presents itself, take it, but dont make a trade just for the sake of making a trade. This team is gelling right now, they really are genuinely in this together and while I cant stand watching the wings we put on the floor, I cant help but be proud of the way this team has stuck together, competed, and been genuinely excited for each other.
Rick Adelman deserves a hug
They need an enforcer at the 5 as much as a shooting guard imo. Pekovic can score but he's not much of a defender.
Pekovic isn't a monster shot blocker but he has been averaging 18 pts. 10 reb. the past 5 games as the Wolves have a 4-1 w/l record. To say he needs to be relaced is asinine. If he was a unrestricted freeagent after this season 75% of NBA teams would be calling him.
You might need to brush up on more than just a lil English.
Rashad McCants is reportedly making a comeback. Could he get another shot at being the Wolves answer at SG? He's got all the talent in the world. If he gets his head and attitude right, he could be a special player.
Pekovic is a solid defensive player. No he's not gonna be a huge shotblocker, but in the post he is immovable. He does not allow his matchup to get position and contains the middle. He is incredibly strong and gets a fair amount of tieups near the rim.
McCants is talented yet too stupid to succeed in the NBA. Any player the Wolves bring in is going to have to buy in the a team concept and that has never been a McCants strong point.
Well the only way he gets a legit shot with any team is if he's matured. I'm saying lets say he has matured...if that is the case he'd be a interesting fit IMO given a 2nd stint with the Wolves with SG being the greatest position of need.
They do need a shooting guard. It would be nice to know if the Wolves had a 1st rd pick so they could select one but every pick they own has stipulations. I'm guessing that there will be quite a few freed up at the end of the season. Houston, Memphis, Portland just to name a few will have available wings.
Yeah the main thing is "has Mccants matured enough to play for a team concept" and I think the answer to that isn't too clear yet. He has a lot of talent and is a great player but he's been put on the black list for players that shouldn't be touched. If I were the Wolves, I would give him a second chance but only in the form of a 10 day contract and see how he is then. If he doesn't hurt the chemisty they got, offer him a second one. Eventually they have to decide if they want him for the rest of the season but talent-wise, he's more than good enough to fill that void at SG that we so desperately need to fill.
I didn't say he needed to be "relaced" there are more ways to add a big to the roster than to get completely rid of a him.
The last 5 games the Wolves have a 4-1 record, fine. How many of those wins came against good centres? All I'm trying to add here is if Darko is not healthy and playing the way he can defensively they will struggle down low against guys bigger than Pekovic.
Production at the 2 and 3 have been hurting us. Luke Ridnour is playing nice but should not be a starting 2. Wes Johnson is getting so many chances but has not capitalized. I just do not think Beas can play on a good team..He is a black hole on offense.. He is our best offensive player but is not consistent and hurts us so much on defense. Martell Webster is just an ok player at best. I hope we do not give up on Derrick Williams. I agree with another poster that he needs to play the 3 more.. I know he will struggle on defense but he needs the experience.. He is not a 4 in this league IMO. Plus we have Love there. I love Pek...I do think we need a true backup C that can block some shots.. Of course a lot of teams need that. I would like to see us give Malcolm Lee a chance in the second half of the season. Maybe he could be our shooting guard we are looking at?
