What do the Timberwolves do for this years draft?  The biggest hole is at PF, but I don’t think that Lyles or Portis are worth taking in the top 3 (as long as the Wolves stay in that range).  I hear a lot of people think that Towns is versitile enough to play the 4, and I think that would be the best choice as of now.  But also depending on where the Wolves plan on playing Wiggins could also have an impact on the draft.  If he is a three, Russell would be a great pick if he is playing the 2. Unless the Wolves plan on getting rid of Pekovic, there is no clear pick this year.

I think that right now, the Wolves are in a similar situation that the Thunder/Sonics were in when they were bad and picked Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka, and Harden. If they mess up the next couple years of drafting, then I will in fact know that the Wolves are hopeless.

We can literally take any of the top 4 players (Mudiay, Russell, KAT, Okafor). We’d figure something out even if we ended up with Mudiay or Okafor. Now fit wise the best two are KAT and Russell. I think that Zach LaVine will still be a good solid player, but I think he’s gonna be a scorer off the bench and the Wolves would be better off with a 2 like Russell. Rubio and Russell would be the best passing backcourt in the NBA(would they?).

Then with KAT he’s been playing forward alot this year so I don’t think him fitting in with Pek would be that different. I’m not sure what we’re gonna do with Pek but I don’t that having him on the team will dictacte how we go in the draft. It also would be hard to deal Pek…not sure anyone would take his contract right now.

Bottom line is Wolves just need a top 4 pick and we’ll deal with the details later. There are 4 elite players. Only way we could screw it up is if we got the 5th pick…which is the most likely scenario.

Is Dieng or Pekovic the C of the future? Or neither?

Pek isn’t. He’s a nice player that has pretty good low post skills and is a very good ft shooter for a big. But the poor D and lack of athleticism is just so bad. Gorgui could be. But I’m not sure. He’s got alot of good skills but there’s something there that just makes me think he’s not going to take his skills to the next level.

I am hoping the timberwolves get porzingis if they don’t get a top 4 pick, possibly even if they do get a top four pick if KAT is gone by our pick. He can shoot, is athletic and can play defense. He is skinny, so he would need to put on weight. It really comes down to if it is determined that he can add weight and if he is willing to bang for boards, the twolves don’t need the next bargnani. If those two things check out he is the best fit for them outside of KAT and has all star potential.

I don’t think Dieng or Pek are the C of the future. And I wouldn’t mind getting rid of him and his contract. I don’t think he’s worth $12 million a year. And Dieng is solid, but I don’t think he is a starting C in this league. I would love to see the Wolves ship Pek and pick up Towns if he’s available in the draft. Sidenote: I want the Wolves to trade Rubio more than anything. He is nothing more than a backup PG in this league unless he’s on a superstar loaded team because he can not score with efficiency to save his life…

I think Russell would be a great pick to play mainly the 2. But he is a guy who can have the ball in his hands at the end of the shot clock or at the end of games to make a play with his passing and scoring ability. This is something the Wolves don’t really have. Rubio can’t score, and Wiggins isn’t the greatest ball handler, passer, or iso player. And Russell has that skill set.
