frcastroParticipantWhat about #3(if rubio) for 8# + David Lee?
It makes sence for NY. They get a PG Mike D likes.
The Thunder can get curry plus a good PF/C.

Thunder09Participanti think the Thunder would possible do that if they did get Rubio that would give us a established Big Man,and a possible way of drafting a SG. i doubt it would happen but i wouldent be against it

frcastroParticipantDo you prefer
3# for 4#(harden) and Hawes?
or curry and Lee?

auberParticipantyour banking on Memphis taking Thabeet which isn’t going to happen.

Thunder09Participanti wouldent say memphis wont take Thabeet. i think they might! and i would rather have the Currey and Lee.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantI agree I think that Thabeet is not going 2. I just don’t see it. I think he’s going to end up sliding… Could he slip to the wolves at 6? I could see Rubio and Harden 2,3 and then evans 4… i donno

GreenLanternParticipantThat’s the way I have my mock. Rubio falls to three, get traded to NY’s #8. Perfect. Auber why the assumption that Memphis is keeping the pick when it’s known they have 5,000 better options than drafting one of two players they don’t need?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 5:29pm #161575
maravich44ParticipantRubio is a bad fit for new york. He can not shoot. That’s why N.Y. likes Curry so much and to get rid of Lee for a player that doesn’t fit the system would be a mistake even though Rubio may turn out to be a special player.

dwat4444ParticipantI definetely think that if that trade could happen it might but the trade frcastro proposed, #3 for #4 and Hawes, is a lot better. Hawes is a true center while Lee is a PF, which is a position we’re set at. Plus they can still get harden, who they’d select with the 3 anyway so they’re not losing anything. What do you think of that trade?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 5:31pm #161577
j1232eParticipantwill get drafted at 2 then traded for 4 and a player.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 5:32pm #161579
maravich44ParticipantRubio is a much better fit for the Kings. That would make sense to see him end up there, though he probably views it as a city he doesn’t care to play in.

PringlesParticipantLee and Nate can’t be traded for a while after the draft.

auberParticipantcan one of you thabeet fanatics explain to me why the the grizzlies take him. I think I’ve said enough on this site why they won’t.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 5:40pm #161593
GreenLanternParticipantGuys the 2 for 4 swap ain’t happening. There is NOTHING for Sacramento to gain by doing a trade 2 friggin spots up and giving up Hawes, Thompson, and/or Martin. There is a reason there has been ZERO speculation about these pieces being traded. Hawes and Thompson aren’t anywhere close to 25 yet and they dominated the end of the past season. They need a point guard. This is one of the deepest PG guard drafts ever and there is a ton of PG options at 4.

RickyRubio9ParticipantWouldn’t the Knicks have to wait until July 1st to trade D.Lee?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 6:01pm #161611
PringlesParticipantThabeet is the worst fit for Memphis out of the top 5 picks. They’d be better off with Harden, Hill, Jennings…etc.

leglockfanParticipantWhy does anyone think that Memphis is going to miss that trade chip in Rubio?!?
MEMPHIS IS DRAFTING RUBIO (and they will probably deal him same night)
get used to it

grizz32ParticipantGreat post. I am obviously a grizzlie fan and I am more than confident the Grizzlies will do the right thing with this pick, except draft Thabeet, Wallace knows what he is doing. He traded for OJ Mayo who can be a superstar. I would absolutely love Thompson and #4 for #2 and Wallace probably is thinking about it too. No worries for me

jcjParticipantI think the grizz fans expecting the 2 for 4 deal plus Hawes or Thompson presume that the Kings are just going to fall for a stupid trade from their end. While admittedly the Kings do suck, I don’t think they are dumb enough to let go of Hawes or Thompson just to move up 2 slots. As another post says, there are a lot of PGs, and I don’t think Rubio will be a franchise saver worth throwing away the talents for.
Personally the 2 for 4 swap could happen provided it does not include Hawes or Thompson (or becomes a bigger deal involving some Grizz players moving over as well), but won’t happen just for Rubio. If the Grizz somehow sucker the Kings into a deal like that, their GM should win GM of the year, or at least steal of the year.

NYK2010ParticipantThabeet won’t slip to #6, I think he gets drafted before than if Memphis doesn’t go after him than some team will trade up for him. Big men so hard to find especially 7 footers, I’m sure you can get a big man coach to help him. They say he’s grown leaps in bounds since his Freshmen year. He’s a project but at least he’s not slow he can run the floor has a great wingspan. I hear Samuel Dalembert as the most common comparison. Why would Oklahoma pass on him they have so many wing players already. Can always draft a wing with the 25th pick as well.

piratejpParticipantYou guys in Memphis keep dreaming about getting either Thompson or Hawes, it ain’t happening. The depth at PG in this draft & the fact that there are a couple other guys out there that the Kings may be (almost?) as high on as Rubio makes it really unlikely that they move up. Especially if the price to do so continues to be ridiculously high to move up just to get a PG in a PG heavy draft. The Kings aren’t moving either Hawes or Thompson for anything short of a blockbuster – they’re pretty high on both those guys’ long-term potential & the cupboard is bare behind them – so in such a weak draft, don’t expect to see either of them going anywhere, unless it’s to the Clippers for the top pick. If Memphis grabs Rubio thinking that they’ll force Sacramento’s hand into trading with them, they will likely end up being very disappointed. I’d sure have that Knick deal on the backburner at the very least.
Personally I hope the Kings trade down (they won’t), especially if they can add a pick in next year’s much deeper draft by doing so. We’re not rebuilding this mess overnight, so we might as well take the long view IMHO (another reason not to give up on either Hawes or Thompson just to get the great mystery that is Rubio).

sheltwon3ParticipantI think the Knicks would be good to stay put but I think if they move up it may be for Curry and not Rubio but they have to keep people guessing. Real talk though Rubio can improve his shooting especially in a offense like Mike D’s. You have to think that Mike D is in love with that international flavor so Rubio could be it but I don’t see him bringing Lebron to New York like Curry could do.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 9:07pm #161809
NYK2010ParticipantI don’t think Curry is that good hopefully someone ahead of the Knicks drafts him. I’d rather go after Jennings, Tyreke, and Holiday first they have better all around games. Not sure LeBron is coming here becaz of Curry, he’s friends with Jay-z he could sign with the Nets and they have Lopez, Harris, Carter already in place. If LeBron he wants to reup w/the Cavs he’ll sign an extension this summer I think, not likely the Cavs are going to do much this offseason.

knicksfreakParticipantTotally agree on everything you just said.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 9:42pm #161827
fastdanParticipantThompson/Hawes + #4 is totally over paying for the #3 or even #2. For either of those trades to happen OKC or Memphis would have to add a decent player or future picks. So please stop talking like those trades are probable, the Kings are not that stupid.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 10:30pm #161835
Ch13f23Participantdo u think the Memphis won’t pick Rubio with 2nd pick?
i think it would be much better if the Thunders would just draft Harden at 3.Memphis would probably trade down with Sacramento.
i would like to see a 2nd pick = 4th + Garcia trade scenario.
cause the kings said that martin, hawes and thompson are unlikely to be traded. And with this trade Memphis would add Garcia who is a 2 or 3 player and could do almost everything which could be the 6th man of their team and with the 4th pick they should just pick up Hill who have a good upside and i think would fit in their rotation.if you really insist on 2nd pick for Hawes/Thompson and 4th pick i think Memphis should add someone like arthur to make the trade work.
