If you were the Thunder and Trey Thompkins, Justin Harper and Jon Leuer were still on the board (which is very likely to happen), who would you take and why?

I wouldn’t want to take any of these guys as a Thunder fan.  I really would only be completely satisfied with this draft for the Thunder if Tyler Honeycutt fell to them at 24.  He would be the perfect backup to Durant.  He can pass, defend, rebound, shoot (inconsistently however) and his very athletic with a lot of potential. I don’t think anyone in this draft at the 24 spot as a bigman can do them any good.

Justin Harper, gives them what they lost in Jeff Green because he’s the only one of the above guys who is a tweener enough to play some SF as well.

I think they could use a backup 3, Aldrich needs some minutes to see if he’s worth it. Luckly you guys can’t take my points but I would like to see them take Jereme Richmond. He can learn how to be a pro from Durant and Thunder are good at developing talent (Ibaka, Westbrook) and the kid has a ton of talent

I personally think Justin Harper is the perfect fit for my Thunder.

He can play 2 positions.. and like said above he’s what they lost in Jeff Green. He can shoot the ball well, and he has an improving Inside game. He could be a lot of help for the young Thunder as they can use a lineup like

    Westbrook

    Harden

    Durant

    Harper

    Ibaka

I really like this line as it is solid all around with Defense, rebounding and scoring

I just want to know which of these 3 they will take, just answer that question please. I know they can consider Honeycutt but that isn’t the point of this topic…

Justin Harper sounds good. They need a versatile guy off the bench who can score since they will probably start James Harden next year.  I think they also need to get a low post scorer.  Maybe Big Baby would be a good fit.

If you are the Thunder I think they need to continue to add pieces to contend.  They are one of the teams in WIN NOW mode along with the Heat, Bulls, Grizzlies, and the current champs.  The Lakers, Celtics, and Spurs could go either way so they need to decide if they want to rebuild or if they want to give it one more shot.

If the Thunder don’t really like anyone at 24 then they might want to trade down and swap picks with the Bulls and get the 28th and 30th pick.  Not sure they will pick up a core player at 24 so they might just need to get some solid role player guys with the Bulls’ picks.  Then the Bulls could roll the dice on getting a higher impact guy at 24.

To beat other teams the Thunder need a guy who can stop (or at least slow down) bigger scorers like Dirk and LeBron (and even Carmelo Anthony and Rudy Gay).  They have 3 great scorers in Durant, Westbrook, and Harden and some enforcers in Ibaka, Perkins, Collison, and Thabo.  Hopefully the Grizzlies resign Battier, but if not Battier might be a good fit in OKC.  So they might want to go after a hard-nosed defensive stopper who can score a few points a game instead of a guy who is mainly a scorer.

Hence i would take Thompkins. The guy wont wow u but he is solid. He provides an inside prescence (which they do need) (see series against Mavs.) But they are still miles ahead of Where they should be. My favorite team.
