Charlie SheenParticipantOKC and LAC may be the future of the Western Conference as quick as this upcoming season.
OKC- they have a solid 9 man rotation(PG- Westbrook and Maynor Wings- Durant, Harden and Sefolosha and Bigs- Green, Ibaka, Aldrich and Krstic) they play D and their crown is unlike any crowd in the NBA
LAC- they have 1 chance at being mentioned with the top tier teams out West and that is trade Kaman, Aminu and 2 1st rounders for Carmelo Anthony and JR Smith. Carmelo would give them their go to guy and JR would give them the wildcard every championship team has see Ginobili, Odom, Kerr and Posey. they would need another big inside and they could go after Al Horford cause I doubt ATL maxes him out after maxing JJ out then they could trade Baron Davis away for a much needed perimeter defender maybe Dahntay Jones unlikely but still possible if not get Battier in FA in 2011. that Clipper team would be awesome.
So I see at least a WCSF of Thunder/Clippers soon if they trade Carmelo
Durant vs Anthony
Harden vs Gordon
Westbrook vs Bledsoe
Green vs Griffin
Ibaka vs Jordan
Aldrich vs Horford
Sefolosha vs Smith
Maynor vs WarrenAny Thoughts

Anton123ParticipantI like the OKC squad more
Durant = Anthony
Harden > Bledsoe (by far)
Green Jordan
Aldrich Smith (more valuable)
Maynor > Warren (right now)Looks pretty much equal but OKC has great chemistry right now, plus the Clippers are the Clippers, they’ve never been good. Griffins health and JRs attitude could be problems. The Clippers have no good PG too

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI would take Melo over Durant because of playoff experience.

Anton123ParticipantYou could also take Durant over Carmelo because of age and potential, in 3 years Melo will start to decline, while Durant will be in his prime.
Both teams aren’t championship contenders yet, so potential and age do matter0 - Posted on: Fri, 08/27/2010 - 5:47am #386787

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantIn a 7 game series today? I’m taking Melo. He has a better playoff track record and experience.
3 years down the road? I’ll take Durant.

omphalosParticipantI’d be tempted to say Clippers right now, but definitely OKC in the future; unless Griffin is an absolutely dominant inside presence then Ibaka, Green, Aldrich will be the better frontcourt in the future. Factor in the clear superiority of Westbrook and the better D of Durant (almost as of this season) then OKC get the nod.
Can we please just wait and see what happens with Melo though? I don’t know if my nerves can handle going through a million possibilities only for something ridiculous to happen.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThe Thunder are near the top in the West… it’s still a huge jump to surpass the rest. I’d like to see Thunder succeed but many teams have stalled in the exact place that the Thunder are in now.
It’s not a given that they will continue to improve. That being said, I’d be surprised if they didn’t because of the way they are being run as a franchise, They have tons of cap space and talent developing over seas as well talented young players up and down the roster.
The only thing that I could see holding them back is if there get “hooked up” with any of LeBron’s people
(World Wide As$) the same way they have set out to destroy Denver and New Orleans.0 - Posted on: Fri, 08/27/2010 - 6:04am #386804

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantDurant has a chance to be a all-time great talent and is the sole reason his team has and will continue to win 50 games + per season. Melo’s teams struggled to win over 40 games until they bought on Chauncey Billups (a proven winner).

stanford hoops@anton..how olde do you think carmelo is? in three years he will be 29 so he will still be in his prime not declining
now i gotta stop laughing after reading the clippers “may be the future of the Western Conference as quick as this upcoming season” this story has been told so often..the latest being when they had qrich and dmiles and brand
And how come people keep forgetting portland?..they are a young team with a superstar and at full strength they are better then both okc and clips. utah is still better dallas, houston
i really think people are taking the okc a lil too far. no matter how well they played they still lost 4-2. this isnt horse shoes so almost doesnt count
i like durant (he reps my home town) but imma wait untill he wins a playoff game first because right now hes just mcgrady, very good player that hasnt won a playoff series yet, so imma wait for him to EARN it

Maybe the Thunder.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantUntil the Blazers win a playoff series and stay healthy: They don’t need to be in the conversation to me.
We been saying this Portland team could make noise for 3 seasons now. Let’s see something happen.

29 is not the prime of a players career, maybe for a big man, but LeBron right now is in his prime, do you want to say that just in 4 years Lebron will be reaching his prime?
Carmelo is 26 and statistically he has actually gotten worse over the last 2 years, but in 4 years he won’t be a better player than he is now, IMHO0 - Posted on: Fri, 08/27/2010 - 9:02am #386927
