ghettosermonParticipantAnyone else watching this? USA looks horrid. Scored 7 points in the first quarter. Odom, Gay, Durant, Iguodala, Granger all getting out muscled down low. USA has no offense at all. Just sloppy one on one moves all over the place. It’s not the WC’s yet but this play could easily continue. No perimeter shooting and no toughness down low, not a good recipe for international play. Not a good sign.

IndianaBasketballParticipantTeam USA’s lack of experience in international play is evident right now.
They’re really struggling in the half-court.
Kevin Durant is a light weight.

ghettosermonParticipantHaving Iguodala, Granger, and Gay are useless when they have to play PF, they will get owned all day against any solid Euro banger. Also Durant is one of the best scorers in the NBA right now but you can really see how far less ineffective he is when he can’t just draw touch fouls whenever he wants.

ghettosermonParticipant3-25 from the field, horrendous. Might not even score 20 in the first half, Lithuania is pretty good but more in the 8-12 range, far from a top tier team.

ghettosermonParticipantBut non of the guys are great shooters. Even guys like Granger, Gay, Iguodala need some shots before they get in rhythm. On this team they aren’t afforded “warm up shots.”

McDunkinThis is why USA needs to let role players try out. Korver,Redick,Morrow,Kapono,Novak, etc arent doing anything right now
Those names dont scream Dream Team but they can drain open shots
And Coach K should have played Pocius

llperezwell you act like you are bragging about being right. "im the one who said they needed pf’s". Actually everyone on this site pretty much agreed the big man situation was weak. WHy do you act like you are the smart one who noticed it? You were upset you got ripped on your post and are trying to say "see i told you guys" but the fact is you got ripped on your post becasue it was weak. You brought up 5 guys they should add and the only one who even slightly made sense was maybe josh smith.

dwat4444ParticipantI agree completely. Redick and Korver would’ve been good players for this team. At this point, they have enough athleticism and play making(westbrook, rondo, rose, iggy, gay, durant). what they need are defensive stoppers and shooters

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantSo what? I didn’t see any post before mine that said they needed another big. I looked. I didn’t see one.
Noone’s bragging. I said they needed PF help. You read the 1st two posts, they sounded surprise they couldn’t score in the post.
This is what I’m talking about: Why even comment about me? Why even bring me up? So what If I said it? It’s not a big deal. People disagreed with me and I moved on. You must be so upset about it for no reason. I’m not arguing with you over a post made 2 weeks ago. You must be bored if your gonna attack it…AGAIN.
Like I said, that’s just holding my nuts man. If I didn’t comment on this, you would have never said anything about it. I didn’t name 5 guys, I said ” I was them, I would remove 3 and put in these 3″ I also named guys who I would at least brought to try outs.
Please, why even attack me on it then? Please explain that….

ghettosermonParticipantBrendan Haywood, Taj Gibson, Josh Smith, Roy Hibbert, Paul Milsap could provide that size and shot blocking they desperately need. I still feel like Javale should have made the team. He’s not the strongest guy but he can block shots unlike the guys we have down low like Odom, Gay, Durant, Granger, who are struggling physically.

Roy Hibbert doesn’t rebound and isn’t really physical at all.
Taj Gibson isn’t physical.
Paul Milsap is tough/physical, but he doesn’t provide size. He’s what… 6′ 6″?
I don’t know if Brandan Haywood was really an option.

I said IN THE FU.CK.ING POST- I don’t know the whole format into how they pick the players.
Yea, you still give me crap for it. Also, In the 2nd post about them being a running team- I was responding to Ghettomosterson and what he said. Not “restating” it twice to sound correct.
Can you PLEASE, just let it go.

ghettosermonParticipantHe won’t be but as good as he is I think Granger should be cut. He’s not as strong as Gay and Iguodala down low, and I don’t think he’s a good enough 3 point shooter to warrant being on the roster. This team is obviously guard heavy so you might as well keep both Gordon and Curry, it’s not like Granger adds any size really.

ghettosermonParticipantI agree on Granger being cut. Durant, Rudy, and Iguodala have proven to be stronger down low. Rudy has actually surprised me with how tough he is down low. Now that Granger is strictly there really for shooting I’d rather have Curry. At the same tone even though Love should make it if they just plan on burying him on the bench the whole time, Boozer style, they might as well keep Granger the more versatile scorer. Still though the cut is probably Westbrook or Curry. Sucks though because Curry is a lights out shooter who can play point, and Westbrook is the best on ball defender we have and a slightly more reliable shooter than Rondo.

EzeEdParticipantwe just were’nt making shots in the 1st half, it wasn’t Lit’s defense, we just didn’t shoot well or even decently. The defense was tremendous, especially on the perimeter. Coach K left Rondo and Billups in too long in the 1st half, especially when Billups wasn’t hitting any jumpers, and then he brought in Westbrook and then Rose and got the same result; waited WAY too long to bring in Gordon. Eric came in and the game immediately changed in our favor. We missed 2 breakaway dunks, Gay and Gordon……who’d have thought that Iggy would have made our 1st 3 pt shot, lol. It was our 1st game, which may account for our poor shooting? Lit played less zone than I thought they would, we got decent penetration but not a lot of finishes, Very poor ft shooting by us. Team is still learning, played a good 2nd half against an “experienced” team…….we will have to get better and put two halfs together. Lastly, how ironic would it have been if that full-court shot just before halftime had gone in——we’d have led at half after missing so many 15-18ft jumpers?
Are they going to use that trapaziod lane in these games?

stealsgaloreParticipantWe’ve had slow starts in both games (although this game was much worse than the France game)
Our defense was good but I think we’ll really see how good it is when we see it against the elite guards of Spain (Lithuania’s guards are not nearly of the same quality)
Durant looks way too weak right now, hopefully he will adjust and start hitting his jumper, he’s goin to have to pony up if the U.S. has a chance. Actually the whole team will, we’re going to have to start playing much more physical.

stealsgaloreParticipantTotally agree llperez especially if Durant’s playing the PF. I’d rather start Odom at the 4 move Durant to the 3 Iggy to the 2 and have Rondo come of the bench. After today I have a bad feeling he’ll be abused by bigger 4’s in the tournament.

llperezyeah, im looking at that spain roster and the thought of durant playing pf is a littel concerning. He can do it in stretches. Chandler and odom are gonna have to be on top of their games all tournament. The biggest USA advantage is permiter defense and the ability to creat turnovers and wreak havoc.
