The Timberwolves are on the up and up with a promising group of young players and a couple of young stars proving to be the building blocks of the future. That being said, I believe KAT and Wiggins are the only guys locked in. Rubio is coming into his own and his value is high. Lavine, while injured, still has star potential and Kris Dunn has shown enough flashes to retain his value as a top prospect but isn’t looking like a true starting pg. I wouldn’t blame them for staying put, but do anticipate movement. I believe the Magic could be a very interesting, and potentially willing, trade partner.

Elfrid Payton and Tom Thinodeau could be a good match. Payton could be gotten for cheap as he’s underwhelmed

I think Mario’s timeline with Wiggins and KAT could be great, not convinced on fit tho. Not unconvinced either.

Vucevic could be a productive veteran presence.

Aaron Gordon’s versatility (or potential* versatility?) and athleticism could make the wolves overwhelming. Rubio for Gordon and a pick(s)?

what do you guys think? Anything worth pursuing?

Aaron Gordon is a nice player, but he’s not a good fit for the situatiuon in Minnesota in my opinion. He’s not an especially good defensive player or shooter, and I think what the Wolves need is either a stretch 4 or a rim protecting big, send Dieng to the bench as a guy who can play 25 minutes in reserve of either the 4 or 5.

Rubio is playing some good ball over the past month or so. In March he is averaging 16.3 points, 11.8 assists and 5.7 rebounds and shooting 47 percent from the field. While he isn’t scoring a lot per game, he is shooting a career high.

If I were Minn I would stick with him and see if he can continue playing at this level.

I agree with everything but your statement on aaron gordon.  Dude is a beast defensively.  He can guard 3 or 4 positions really well. Cleans offensive glass on put backs. Runs the floor.  Sets great picks. Decent passer. And the shot is coming.  But I love his work ethic.  I can see thibs using this guy like a more versatile Taj Gibson. Moves KAT back to his natural 5. Dieng back to his natural 5 off the bench.  Though I wouldn’t give up rubio.  Probably a first round pick and parts or swing a third team.

Saying Payton has been underwhelming would have been true until recently. He’s just starting to shine and has had three triple-doubles in his past five games. He’s literally averaging a triple-double over his past five.

You also mentioned a lot of names and how they would fit together in your original post. Is the trade Elfrid Payton, Mario Hezonja, Aaron Gordon, and Nikola Vucevic for Ricky Rubio???

If you’re saying Gordon and picks for Rubio… how would Mario’s timeline match with KAT and Wiggins? And how would Payton team up with Thibodeau? Is Vucevic a productive veteran presence with Orlando or Minnesota?

    I’m confused!

I’d take Biyombo if I had to take someone from Orlando. Wolves need a big mean center who will do the dirty work. They get murdered against grown man bigs.
