Suppose the Celtics finish off the Cavs. Are they good enough to beat the Magic in a 7 game series?

After seeing all the moves the Celtics made last summer and during this year, I figured they would be a strong contender. During the season, I lost a bit of faith in the Celtics, but watching them in the playoffs…wow this team looks like themselves again. If this Celtics team stays healthy…I believe they can make a great series with Orlando. Will they beat Orlando? I’m not sure…..

I think the Celtics can beat the Magic. They have the defense and offensive weapons to do it. last year they made a series out of it, and that was with no KG, so things could be just as interesting. I think it all comes down to Vince Carter though. If he shows up to play then the Magic will beat the Celtics, but if not then it could be an amazing defensive series with a lot of back and forth lead changes. In the end though the Magic just have to much fire power.

Agreed, I like the Magic in 6 or 7 games.
Don’t see Rondo having as much success as Nelson is a lot better than Mo Williams.
Gortat will see a lot more time in this serie some on KG.

The key to beating the Magic is to play Howard very physical and limit Nelson’s penetration while keeping Carter out of rhythm. The nucleus of Perkins, Rondo and Pierce should handle those duties as well as just about anyone. Even so, the Magic have overwhelming talent and are playing at a ridiculous level right now.

    It’ll be VERY intriguing because based off of how orlando has gotten to the conference finals you’d give it to them in a landslide. If you look at the matchups;

nelson vs rondo: this will be incredible based off of how theyre both playing. i think rondo’s assists and rebounds will be better than nelsons and i think nelson’s points will be better than rondo’s, mind you nelson doesnt get as many assists since they swing the ball so constantly. all in all this will be very close. rondo on the stat sheet will outdo nelson but their effects on the series will be the same i think

carter vs allen: this matchup will be interesting as well. boston needs allen to play like he has in the wins they have in the current series to stand a chance. I feel if vince puts up 17 a game at least that orlando wins this series as i feel vince is the x factor. i’ll give this one to vince because i think defensively he’ll chase allen off the screens well enough and even if he doesn’t their defense is hitting on all cylinders

matt barnes vs paul pierce: obviously pierce is the better player and will have better stats but this matchup comes down to how well pierce shoots due to barnes’ defense. barnes i feel has established himself as a respectable perimeter defender with his length and quickness and it could give the truth some issues. pierce will have to shoot at least 45% in this series while putting up 18 or more a game for boston to win.

rashard lewis vs kg: 5 years ago this series wouldnt be close if kg was a celtic in this matchup but its not. i dont think either one can guard the other but most of rashards field goals are worth 3 points. i give this matchup points wise to rashard simply due to youth POINTSWISE

dwight vs perkins: perkins can make this series close or do the opposite depending on how aggressive he is on both ends of the floor. On offense he’s going to have to go at dwight hoping to get him in foul trouble and on defense he generally does a good job although i feel dwight has developed some nice moves in the post. Dwight will need to shoot somewhat respectably from the free throw line and stay out of foul trouble and not commit frustration fouls something perkins will be looking to draw dwight to do. Either way orlando wins the matchup but dwight will have to play 30 minutes a game in order to have the affect they need him to have

Orlando definitely has the better bench as orlando’s bench has redick pietrus gortat jwill and boston has rasheed wallace. Rasheed is going to have to play a thousand times better than he has for them to win and i dont see it happening. Also orlando has the chip on their shoulder of losing last year and they are as hungry as anyone. If orlando can get out in transition which im sure they will (unless boston shoots a crazy percentage) they can capitalize on the advantages they have which is team speed among other things. I say orlando in 6 and then a rematch with the lakers…

The Magic are playing at a ridiculous level right now, but so was Cleveland last season when the Magic bounced them.

The Celtics are rolling right now. A lot of people aren’t giving the Celtics defense enough credit for making LeBron struggle. I think their defense looks as good as it did in 2008. It’s suffocating. The Celtics are more than capable of beating Orlando.

I wouldn’t say the Magic have the better bench either. Sheed, Tony Allan, and Big Baby have all made big contributions so far in the playoffs. The Magic could barely handle Big Baby last year, and what if Sheed starts making a few shots? Both teams are at least 8 deep.

Their impact on the series will not be similar. Rondo is the Celtics leader. He is the Celtics most important player (not the X-factor since he is more consistent than Pierce or Ray Allen). I don’t mean to take anything away from Nelson, but he isn’t the type of player Rondo is.

I don’t think the Celtics bench is close to as good as Orlando’s is. I really am not a big fan of Rasheed Wallace. He can’t rebound, he plays poor defense, he is a poor shooter who shoots threes anyway. At least Josh Smith stopped shooting threes this year. Wallace’s game relies on shooting and he shot 28% from three this year. And Tony Allen struggles to get the ball in the hoop, although he is the Celtics best perimeter defender after Rondo, and he runs the court and plays hard all the time.
I predict the Magic will win, but I think it will go 7 games. I wouldn’t count out the Celtics, though. They are playing well right now, I wouldn’t say they are a lock to get by Cleveland, but Cleveland needs to make some huge adjustments to win. Giving up 70 points in one half will lose a game for you, even if your star doesn’t shoot 3-14.

Celtics in 6. Simply because i think Boston has wat it takes to neutralize howard. Perkins SHeed KG Big baby they have bodies to throw at him 4 days. and we know how hotheaded SHeed KG and perk are they generally do a good job getting in howards head whether its hard fouls or jus talkin shit. Its gonna com eback to how vince plays whether he is dominant or passive. in the end i see a celts lakers final rematch….mark my words

said it before and ill say it again..so many in the media and on here overrated the cavs all season while i kept saying they werent as good as people say and that boston WILL beat them. now the series isnt over but im still stick with what i said before the season, boston will beat them

One thing that does bother me is how so many people are killing lebron. he had a bad game against a good defense. he couldnt get to the paint , which is his strength , and his shot wasnt falling. no one else stepped up on his team other then shaqq and they pretty much let shaq be open under the basket so they could stop lebrons drives.

Also dont understand how Ny2k10 thinks rondo wont have much success against jamer?..rondo is a elite pg that cant be checked one on one so im not sure what made you think that he wont have much success against nelson. i still say orlando beats them though and orlando vs lakers in the finals like i said before the season. Also want to repoint out that lebrons teammates arent as good as some on here tried to convince me over and over again. antwan can score at times but he can also be off and plays no defense(like i said after the trade) mo disappears in the playoffs and the sg position is sometimey. maybe next year some of ya’ll will believe me when i say the regular is just that, the regular season. isnt this the third year that the cavs are the best in the regular season and many on and off here jumped on there bandwagon to win it all? will ya’ll ever learn

i got orlando winning the east, but all 3 teams remaining are still in it. Charlotte and Atlantat are not all that good. Cleavland looked great sweeping ATL last year too.
