HobbyOGParticipantSome sites have him going to a contender with a mininium role. I think he goes to the Pelicans, he’s from New Orleans and this gives him chance to be a contributer and show the rest of a league he’s worth a decent contract in the summer while also making the playoffs.
Where do you think he ends up?

mamadouParticipant100% Pelicans now.
I had him to the thunder before DMC’s injury.

jerb2011ParticipantPelicans, Celtics, Thunder

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantIt feels like New Orleans. It would give him a chance to get 30+ minutes on a playoff team, which would help rebuild his value heading into free agency. It would protect New Orleans from having Davis guard big 5s.

HitsterParticipantNOP would make most sense. Cavs with Love out could be a darkhorse. Celtics again would seem logical. It may depend whether he wants a good playing role or goes all in for a title. Lets say GSW came calling, if you wanted best shot of a title logic would be go there even if it was just until end of season.

OhCanada-ParticipantI feel like the Cavs will get him. Thompson struggled in the playoffs and Monroe is a much better player.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantBoston could offer him the most money for the rest of the season but his role would probably be limited. I think he will go to the pelicans. They just completed the trade for mirotic and Monroe would be another nice addition to replace some of the firepower they lost in cousins. Not sure if it will be enough to get them into the playoffs but it at least gives them a better chance.

The GoatParticipantLooks like the Pelicans have done an A+ job on getting a Mirotic trade through now, creating a roster spot for Monroe in the process. So, you can lock the big fella in.
Chicago must’ve lost their minds! The failed trade was for Asik and a pick, which made no sense. They sold Jordan Bell for $3.5mil yet Asik wouldve cost them $34mil for the next 3 years, so the NBA gods really smiled down on them nixing the trade. But now the Bulls have pushed it back through with the Pels also dumping Tony Allen and Jameer Nelson on them..!
That’s a very good trade for New Orleans. When Boogie is back, it’s a formidable rotation having all 4 of Cousins, Davis, Mirotic and Monroe. They obviously need to work out ways to get some wings but Holiday and Rondo have enough in them for now at the point.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThe word circling around the internet is that Asik’s contract is fully guaranteed for 2018-19, but is only guaranteed for $3 million in 2019-20. It is still an awful deal, but better than the $11.3M and $12M it appeared to be. That said, the Bulls are likely going to be a 18th to 23rd pick. The value of the pick looks so much greater before it turns into a player. Nine of the sixteen first rounders taken beyond the lottery have played more than 500 minutes this year, and we are 50 games in.
The decision to sell the pick when Jordan Bell fell to them made no sense, especially after dealing Butler earlier in the night, was confounding after Felicio got $32 million, and even worse now that he is not even the backup center.
New Orleans has no control over whether Cousins leaves this summer, but whether they like it or not are atoning for the Solomon Hill, E’Twaun Moore, and Alexis Ajinca contracts. They are an expensive team. Even if Monroe works out this year, I’m not sure they will be able to retain him if Cousins leaves, much less if he stays.

HobbyOGParticipantLooks like he’s going to the Celtics! I didn’t see that one coming..

OhCanada-ParticipantYep hes signing to Boston. Gotta say Im very upset by this. Monroe matches up perfectly against Valanciunas and at times can win that matchup. Hes a tough and crafty vet that has solid post play. Less excited about a possible Boston vs. Toronto matchup now.

HitsterParticipantGood pick up for Boston gives them extra size and experience in the frontcourt plus Greg is going to be motivated to try and earn a decent contract somewhere next season.
