Lotto StudParticipantEveryone has a story behind their fav NCAA team. Most people like a team for a certain player, coach, tradition etc. What’s your story?
Memphis Tigers
I have not been a life long fan such as most, because of Penny. I am a Tiger, because of the Camden, NJ connection with Dajuan "Juanny" Wagner aka DWags. I been on the Wag-wagon for the longest, I was born in Camden, so I said wherever he goes that will be my squad. Another thing to help keep me from jumping ship once he left, was that my closest friend is from Memphis, so he schooled me to all the players & recruits from the area. Another thing I loved about Memphis was that we kept the PG’s coming in due to Coach Cal’s rep. No matter how much I loved the One & Done recruits we got from him I will still be a Tiger even if we don’t get them anymore. I am greatful to have Coach Pastner who is an excellent recruiter though & since he has been here he is on the road to GREATNESS.

mikeyvthedonParticipantMy grandfather went there.
My mom went there.
I went there.
Liked a lot of college teams as a kid, but as I got older, I knew where I wanted to go.

Attend UConn…aren’t I lucky 🙂 nothing better than being at school while your team wins the championship
I’ve kinda liked Villanova though ever since I watched Lowry and Foye play together. They were awesome

Junebug88ParticipantLike universal said… I was born here and I live here. I was wearing UK apparel before I could walk, but in KY you’re either a uk fan or Louisville fan and I just happen to bleed blue.
Go cats!!

surveParticipantI am born and raised in NC, but I was not always a UNC fan, they grew on me. I think when Phil Ford was playing, that team was really good and my fanaticism just increased. When they beat Georgetown for the title I was all in. Then watching MJ in his last season there…..

aamir543ParticipantWhen i was younger, I was a bandwgon fan, so you can assume that I was Yankees, Lakers and Duke fan.
Now that I have grown out of that, its Cal, my Mom went there, and I live in the Bay Area.

BasterdInABasketParticipantBorn just outside Milwaukee. Was just a badger fan as a kid, Dwyane Wade came along, I went to a few Marquette camps and MU became my favorite team along with Bucky still. If had to choose though Id watch a Marquette game first plus watching Big East basketball kills Big Ten basketball.

aspence4ParticipantHad a march madness contest when I was in grade school where every group of kids randomly picked a team playing in the tournament. Got points for stuff in class but also got points for everytime your team won a tournament game. My group got UConn and we won the contest because UConn won the national championship with Richard Hamiltion beating Duke. We were tied with the team that randomly had Duke so whoever won the championship game was gonna win the contest. I think we ended up winning basketballs because of it. Been watching UConn every since.

Moved to ct when I was 6.
Grew up around UCONN, went to e.o smith hs which is directly on uconns campus. Kids from my high school have walked on there. Currently Tyler olander who went to e.o plays there. Seeing all the UCONN players around was always pretty sweet. Going to see them play at gampel pavilion is like nothing else. Will always be a UCONN fan0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/08/2011 - 7:30am #566010

ProudGrandpaParticipantMy 2 favorites are Purdue (Dad’s alma mater) and Butler (hometown team).
But my third favorite is Seton Hall.
This started when I watched a Seton Hall-WVU game on CBS early January, 2010. It was the first time I had seen them play, because My home doesn’t get cable. The Pirates erased a 10 point deficit with 50 seconds to go. Although they lost in OT, I was enamored with their street ball style, and by Jeremy Hazell, who hit incredible (and incredibly questionable) shots in the closing seconds. Also Herb Pope is a fantastic rebounder. Unfortunately, this past season, my first full season as a fan of their’s, Hazell got shot, Pope had a heart problem that hampered him greatly, the coach got fired and then stole a manpurse, and several other players had run-ins with the law. Ah, well. Go BLUE!!!
