ItsVictorOladipoParticipantNash has officially called it quits. Didn’t see any other threads about this. The end to a Hall of Fame career. His legacy will be a mixed one, one of the all time greats, so entertaining and a great personality but might also be remembered for never making the NBA finals and being perhaps the least deserving multiple MVP award recipient of all time.
Where do people have him ranked in an All-Time PG list? I’d probably have him around 8th (Magic, Oscar, Zeke, Stockton, Cousy, Frazier and probably Kidd as well, ahead of him)
Ultimately his greatest impact might be measured in the explosion of Canadian kids growing up dreaming of being NBA players

HitsterParticipantAs a Phoenix fan I’m slightly biased towards Nash but I never quite got the double MVP win. One certainly but when the likes of Kobe and Shaq only got one each it always seemed a bit strange.
As a playmaker he was right up there and showed more naturally talented earlier peaking PG’s how to play your best basketball as a post 30 year old.
I’m sure he’ll get coaching offers, not sure about him as a Head Coach just yet, he’d certainly need a great defensive specialist as a lead assistant. But I could see him getting a good Assistant role/ offensive co-ordinator type job if he wanted it.

For_Never_EverParticipantHe could and perhaps maybe really should have won a third MVP. Voters were bias, and didn’t want him in the catergory of winning three straight.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’d say he absolutely deserved the MVP in 2005. Took a team that won 29 games and led them to 62 wins with virtually the same roster. Everyone gave dantoni so much credit for his seven seconds or less offense, but he never had any real success running it without Nash at pg. In 2006, I always believed that Kobe got screwed out of the MVP, but Nash’s overall numbers were actually better than in 2005, and they still won 54 games without amare for the entire season.

r377ParticipantNash was one of my favourites. He was an outstanding shooter, ball handler and passer. He never shot alot so was always under 20ppg but check his % – all 3 are outstanding (fg, 3 & ft).
I think he is underrated ( I guess as he declined over the years for most people’s recent memory ) but he was at the top of the league.
I would have him over Kidd. Didn’t see many Cousy or Frazier games but you could argue him being up there with Isiah and Stockton. I guess the only knock on Steve is that he was not a great defender…
