treytalkssports.comParticipantCan we just go ahead and say that Steve Nash is the worst defensive player in the NBA? As brilliant as he is offensively, he is terrible defensively. I mean, seriously, how many times are the Lakers going to have to rotate to cover for him?

llperezNo argument from me. I remember the game vs the bucks he never guarded Jennings or monta, they had Nash on mbah a moute and dunleavy the whole time and dared the bucks to run all their offense through those guys. It worked that game.

T-Dot-BallerParticipantProbably helps to have Dwight manning the paint and covering up Steve’s defensive deficiencies…. Nash’s defence has never been his strong suit

machu46ParticipantKyrie Irving is every bit as bad as Steve Nash defensively.

draftmangtParticipantYou could say that last year but his defense has improved drastically over the course of this year. Hes never really had a problem staying in front of his man, was just terrible in pick and roll situation. Still switches off his man to often instead of fighting through screens but again hes much better than he was at the beginning of this season.

Ghost01ParticipantYeah, the thing is, I really don’t think you could say that last year. Comparing anyone defensively to Nash is pretty much a joke. He is an old, slow, small white guy. He brings litterally nothing to the table defensively, and can’t even guard 50% of the PGs in the league anymore. They have to hide him on off ball defensive specialists or catch and shoot players most nights.

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantWith the Point Guard position becoming the most dominant in the NBA, and with more athletic and quicker guards, Nash has a very difficult time staying in front of his man, in the West especially with guards like Parker and Westbrook, Lawson and Paul. I cant see Nash consistently staying with any of those guys (Which he has yet to do anyway, at any point during his career) especially now that he is getting up there in age he is a complete liability on the defensive end

bobbybParticipantWhen he used to play the Spurs in the playoffs, Shawn Marion would pick up Tony Parker. Then Bruce Bowen would pick up Nash

akhan786ParticipantI think we’re going to see a change in the way teams play defense to counteract the plethora of elite PG’s in the league.
I think there are very few PGs that are good enough to stay with the best lead guards in the game (and there are like 20), and that’s why I’ve noticed that longer and more athletic defenders are being put on the opposing team’s best PG.
You have to physically overpower the Rose’s, CP’s, and Kyrie’s to make them have to defer to other teammates. That’s why you see when the Heat match up against a team with an elite PG, Lebron is usually the one guarding them in crucial situations. I’ve also seen guys like Tony Allen, Kobe, etc. do it as well.

IndianaBasketballParticipantSteve Nash is the worst defender I’ve ever seen. He’s officially a defensive liability.
