llperezCongrats to the stanford cardinal. They beat minnesota 75-51 today to take the NIT title. The last time they went to play in madison square garden they lost a heartbreaker to syracuse in the preseason nit title game in the final minute after leading most of that contest. The cardinal finish the year 26-11 overall but just really couldnt get it going in the pac 12 this year where they went just 11-9 overall but a solid 15-2 against the rest the nation. This is a young team that was led in scoring by freshman gaurd Chasson Randle and 5 of their top 6 players overall return next season with big man josh owens being the big loss on the roster.

HaleParticipantDid you watch the game? I’m curious as to how Grant Hill 2.0 played.

llperezdidnt see the game, just got home and checked up online and saw they won. As for huestis, i think its safe to say hes no grant hill, lol. But in reality he did play solid for them this season. He might develop into a second round pick by the time hes a senior. He has great size and hands and plays the best defense of anyone on that team. well rounded but great at nothing. A better comparison might be a little shorter jarred jeffries. He finished with 4 points and 6 rebounds tonight in 20 minutes.

JNixonParticipantI watched the 2nd half. Minnesota had an athletic team, but they struggled to score. Stanford made it look real easy alot of times against a Minnesota/Tubby Smith team that characteristically are tough on D. Josh Owens played well.

M-EazyParticipantSo technically Stanford ends the season #69 in the country…great accomplishment!

delfamParticipant^ that’s not how it works. Automatic qualifiers just because they are in the tourney aren’t better than Stanford. A team like Seton Hall is probably in the top 40 teams in the country but they weren’t in the tourney.

M-EazyParticipantI know that’s not how it works. I was just saying that to say how irrelavant winning this tourney really has become…wonder how many people chose to watch this game over Miami vs Dallas. I’m going to say not many.
I just sat at work and listened to a Oregon State alumni try to justify the Pac-12 not being weak this year with Stanford winning the NIT.
