Never heard of a coach or anyone askin to get fired.  ;-).  But I see what your saying.  he could resgin but he’s a classy guy and took the high road when pat riley got rid of him in Miami.  he would resign at the end of the year if they keep Dwight.  If Orlando fires svg and Dwight leaves via free agency after next year or demands a trade  then what?  Glen Davis needs a new nick name cuz Dwight Howard is the new big baby!

Shaq was on TNT with EJ Kenny and Charles talking about the 2006 run he had with the Heat, and basically said they weren’t following Stan as a leader and at Pat Riley was the main motivator with them.

SVG is a terrible coach.  Live by the three and die by the three?  Exaclty what kind of philosophy is that?  His offensive sets and positioning are all non-existent.  If Dwight isn’t being doubled, the Magic have no clue what to do.

    He’s a terrible, terrible coach.

That shootaround interview this morning was so awkward… It was clear when Dwight came over, all SVG wanted to do was run for the border… It would go a long way for the Magic organization to have a rather large pow wow and talk about their feelings because this whole thing is getting ridiculous.. They’re sitting at a 32-23 record, which a lot of teams would kill to have right now and all they can think to do is try to shoot the tires out from under them.. They could be out there contending but right now they’d rather try and play their own silly version of "survivor"… "and Stan you have been voted off the island!" , SVG replies "But my boat doesn’t leave till 12:05…"

You obvious don’t know basketball Stan van gundy is a great coach he tailors his offense to the team he has. He consistently in the playoffs and he’s been to the NBA finals. He really helped Miami heat become a goof team when he was there riley just got all the credit.

Win by the three, die by the three?  Is that a good philosophy?  Why not beat them up down-low with D12.

Name me 2 teams that won a championship using the "win by the three, die by the three" philosophy.

    Don’t worry, I’ll wait.

Stan Van Gundy took it to heart. Thats why he didn’t dismiss it, instead he wanted to stur up more Drama like a little girl.

Dwight Howard came in for the kill right at the right time to make him feel stupid and he ran off shiching is pants.

This situation is just truly sad. All the guys on NBA TNT made a great point. Both Howard and SVG are in the wrong. Dwight shouldn’t have gone and request SVG to be fired. SVG shouldn’t have aired this to the media. That’s the worst thing to do. The media is gonna take this and run with it. The coach and star player are the leaders of your team and when those two are in a disagreement the other players don’t know what to do. They can’t trust SVG because he threw Dwight under the bus, who is to say he won’t do that to others? Dwight seems like he is more interested in the best interest for himself and not the team. I’m to young to remember how things ended with Shaq but this might be worst than when Shaq left. If the Nets keep their draft pick which will be top three, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Magic trade Dwight and others for that pick and rebuild. I honestly think Dwight is somewhere in a corner smiling because if the Magic do trade him it won’t look like he left willingly so he can somewhat keep his image intact but to me it seems like he is the mastermind behind all this.

They dont live by the three and du by the three. The reason they shoot so many threes is because they double Dwight duh.

This will end like Larry Brown and Stephon Marbury. No one can or will want to stay now after this

If you haven’t watched any Magic games, don’t act like you know…

If you have watched them play, at all this season, you would see guys like Hedo and Jameer simply bring the ball up, get a pick from Dwight and chuck up a three or deep two.

    Watch some Magic games first.

"The reason they shoot so many threes is because they double Dwight duh"

Let’s use your reasoning then.  I’m going to list some of the best seasons of the decades best big-men and compare their stats and dominance to the amount of three-point shots their teams take, shall we?

I wonder if Dwight maybe feels a bit annoyed about being portrayed as the villan when it came to trade deadline day and he was demanded to make a decision. Remember that STAT, LeBron, D-Wade etc were not put in that position in 2010 and it had been clear for a while that Melo wanted out so Denver had cleverly put that extension on the table and got a good price for him.

We don’t know what promises the Magic organisation have made to Dwight, could he have some veto over the choice of coach if he extends long term?, has he agreed the opt in with a proviso if things fall short again this year, he can be traded to a team of his choice, this way the Magic get a good price for him rather than him walking away as an FA.

Certainly replacing a coach a few weeks before the play-offs would be a new one on me but unless thigs turn around the Mgic could well make a quick play off exit and their be departures from the team or the coaching staff/front office.

SVG  needs to go, there is more to coaching than just X’s and O’s.  Jeff Van Gundy is a smart coach basketball wise but it just like his brother lacks the other areas that coaches should have.  I think Jeff played a little ball but Stan did not and to me if you are not a former player than no matter the X’s and O’s, it limits you in some areas as a coach.

its all about the personel tongue out like 23… Name one person on orlando that can break someone down off the dribble? Not one player can consistently get a good look unless your running a lot of ball screens to free up a shot or dwight is getting doubled…. I think stan has maximized what these players bring to the table (by emphasizing the importance of corner 3s and short 2s, the two most efficient shots in the game).

I think stan is a very good Xs and Os coach and orlando would be stupid to show him the door.

SVG at the end of their season.  It’s either the coach or the best center in the league.  Not too tough of a choice.

Orlando needs to fire Stan Van Gundy immediately. You can’t have a coach or player confirming he said/she said type of rumors to the media like that. S.Van Gundy should be mature enough to understand that he can’t go around openly discussing gossip from a person who may have a personal issue with Dwight Howard. Besides we all know that if a superstar player like D.Howard(who can leave as a free agent next year) wants a coach fired…That Coach Will Be Gone!! We’ve seen this happened before with NBA coaches. I’m thinking S.Van Gundy sees his team is struggling right now, realizes he has a couple million left on his contract and just wants to be fired.

Do you think they accidentally get guys like Ryan Anderson, Rashard Lewis, Quentin Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu, J.J. Redick, and Jason Richardson?

No, they got those guys because they fit SVG’s offense, which is, shoot all the threes you want.  They don’t play that way because of their personnel, they have that personnel because of the way they play.

It’s no longer a question of "if" for SVG… Only "when".

It’s time for a change. The only decision left is whether to do it now or wait until after the playoffs.

They should’ve just done a reality tv show on Dwight Howard, SVG and the Orlando Magic this season. Never seen anything this silly.
