Charlotte would also get one of the Laker’s first round picks this year. The Lakers would actually just use amnesty on Luke Walton instead of trading him. Putting him in Charlotte is the only way to see if trade works.

LA gets an upgrade at PG without losing their big men. And Diaw is a good compliment to Laker bigs and gives the Lakers someone else who can play off the bench. Both contracts for Augstine and Diaw expire at the end of the season too so if it doesn’t work they can just add some free agents in the off season.

Charlotte gets some cheap veterans instead of having to find some in the off season. They also have saved $5 million towards next year’s cap and gained a first round pick to help with the rebuild.

    New Look Lakers

Starters: Augustin, Kobe, MWP, Pau, Bynum

Bench: Fisher, Goudelock, Barnes, Diaw, Murphy

    New Look Bobcats

Starters: Kemba, Henderson, Magette, Bismack, Mullens

Bench: Blake, Williams, Brown, Tyrus/White, McRoberts

If the Bobcats draft well (Harrison Barnes, Tony Wroten, and M Teague??), amnesty Tyrus, and were able to move Magette’s expiring contract next year, they could have a dangerous young team in a few years.

I have to disagree. i think CHA will want more for Augustin if they do decide to trade him now.

The problem is the Lakers have absolutly no trade assets other than Gasol and Bynum.

Laker fan obviously…  why would Charlotte give up not only the best player (Augustine) in the trade also their best expiring contract to bring in players that would remain on their bench?

Let’s not forget, at 19 mil for the next 2 years, LA wouldnt mind moving Gasol.

And best player that plays same position as younger 2nd best player. And free agents aren’t going to be beating down the door to go there next year. I’d be shocked if a backup pg as good as Blake would sign there in the off season.

It’s not like the Bobcats could be much worse to finish the year (or that it hurts them in any way). Might as well hand the keys to Kemba now and get Augustin out of the way and get something back in return. Same with Diaw who is just taking minutes from the younger guys.

So you’re basically saying this, "Well, the Bobcats have the worst record in the league, might as well give away all of their assets."

and they gain a first rounder when they are trying to rebuild. Mc Bob’s contract isn’t bad at all. he’s just stuck behind Pau and Drew.

Salary Cap space does them no good if no one wants to play there. Veterans don’t want to go to a rebuilding project.

A 1st rounder on a team that’s yearly near the top of the western conference standings does them absolutely no good.

"expiring contracts that do them no good aren’t assests"

Explain to me how an expiring Boris Diaw contract does the Lakers good but not the Bobcats.  I’m interested.

So you’re telling me they should just give every long-term contracts because nobody is going to play in Charlotte so they should give away all their expiring contracts for pretty much nothing?

Your arguments are completely laughable, like this trade idea.

And the bobcats wont spend money as a small market team.

Who do you think the Bobcats can sign this off season with that cap room?

Better for Char to keep drafting and build a young team that way.

would be a player like Dion Waiters, Jeff Taylor, Kris Joesph or Tony Wroten. You don’t think they would help the Bobcats? They’d probably start by the end of the year.

Those two players aren’t even that huge of an improvement over the Laker players, but enough to put the Lakers over the hump. And THEY ARE LOSING THEM ANY WAY.

If you’re Randy Foye or Andre Miller are you signing with Char or LA next year?

I’m going to have to disagree with everything you said. No way Bobcats should give away Augustine when he is the only quality young starter they have when they are trying to rebuild. Clearly Kemba is not NBA ready right now, not to mention he may never turn into a franchise point guard like they hope.

If this trade went down I feel it would put an unfair amount of pressure on Kemba, which is the last thing you need when you are a struggling young player.

Charlotee can get alot more than that for diaw expiring contract and DJ Augustin who is way better than any of those guys you are giving them from the lakers. you are undervalueing Augustin

Bobcats aren’t interested in taking on salary if its 3 bench players.

You think Jordan wants to help the Lakers or any big market team be serious.
