sahrgobucksParticipantAs a big Ohio State fan i watch every game. As much as everybody loves Aaron Craft i have to say that i think they are better if they were to start Shannon Scott. Scott is way more athletic, a better passer( 9 assist in 20 mins yesterday), a better shooter( Craft is shooting in the 30% range and has never had a natural shot. While some people would say Craft is the better defender i would not be so fast to say that while Scott had 6 steals yesterday and from what I’ve read Scott is always got the best of Craft in practice. Scott is a former Georgia Mr. Basketball and Mcdonald’s All America. If you really watch this team they are much better with Scott on the floor and I would rather see Craft come off the bench. Anybody else see this?

SiggyParticipantCraft IS the better defender though. His on the ball defense is elite at the college level. I also wouldn’t say that Scott is the better shooter either. Neither are good shooters. IMO, if Scott were to be inserted into the starting lineup, it should be with Craft, benching Sam Thompson.
Be careful not to rush to judgement after seeing how your team plays vs bad teams, which is what OSU’s been playing since their loss to Duke. The worst time to make lineup adjustments is after playing a string of cupcakes.0- Posted on: Sun, 12/16/2012 - 11:05am #733704
sahrgobucksParticipantIm not just referring to these cupcakes they have been playing. In big games i still havent seen Craft really ever show up over past seasons either. If you watch them you see Craft making many mistakes especially late in the game with the ball in his hands. I would keep Sam Thompson in the starting line up cause of his ability to run the court and guard bigger guys. Just my opinion though. I think Scott’s shooting is slightly better but not enough to make a huge difference. Defensively i think Craft is ovverated but like i said thats imo.

SiggyParticipantShow up how? Craft isn’t in there to make plays offensively. He’s in there for his defense and intangibles, which are things he still does well. I don’t know how he could be considered overrated defensively. He’s an absolute pest on that end with his strength, lateral quicks, and quick hands. He’s excellent pressuring the ball, rotating and digging down in help situations. If you don’t want him making mistakes at the end of games offensively, put the ball in Scott’s hands then. Scott has better breakdown ability so that should be the case anyways, but I’d still have Craft in the game with him and Thompson on the bench.

sahrgobucksParticipanti mean show up defensively in big time games. His freshman year Brandon Knight in the sweet 16, Taylor in the Final 4 against Kansas last year. Jordan Taylor from Wisconsin lit up craft too. I guess we will see how he does against Burke, Appling, and the better pgs from the big ten. I hope he proves me wrong. I know hes not there to make plays offensively but does Craft know that? why did he take 15 shots against Duke, which he only made 3 of them smh.

SiggyParticipantThe team as a whole shot 33% vs Duke. Craft wasn’t the only one who struggled. Scott was 1-8.
I think early in the season Craft felt like he had to make up for the lost offense from last year, but he’s incapable of doing that since he’s just not a natural scorer. He’s since settled down and become more selective with his shots. It’s not like he’s chucking away in every game. He’s only averaging 8 shots a game.0

HaleParticipantI haven’t seen him play much but him and Craft is one hell of a defensive backcourt.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantWhat has Scott done to show he should play more? You greatly underestimate Crafts impact on defense (like most who only see things from a offensive point of view)

SiggyParticipantScott is a really good ball-handler, passer, play-maker, defender and he takes care of the ball as well. He’s better at breaking down a defense, beating his man off the dribble and making plays for others.
He’s shown enough to play more, but not enough to start in Craft’s place. Both deserve to start.

sahrgobucksParticipantRoss is really starting to come in to his own. He gets about 20 mins a game. Hes averaging about 10 ppg. 5 rpg and shooting 48 percent from field. Hes playing within the offense but limited minutes cause he plays same position as Thomas. I like what i see from him though.
