Three questions – who has the better NBA career? What do their numbers look like next season? And what are possible numbers they could achieve at their respective peaks?

Tough question, but I’ll take McGee. McGee could be a potential physical specimen if the Wizards were smart about weight training him. He has a frame that can add alot of muscle. He’s already just as good a defender as Ibaka, probably better one-on-one. He’s easily the more skilled offensive player too. I’d take McGee, and I tend to think McGee has big upside and he’s right on the cusp of reaching it. He’s more than just a big body. He actually has a good deal of skill.

I like McGee better because hes a Legit 7 footer with freakish athletcism. Both are freaks athletically but McGee’s size puts him over the top.

Next Season for McGee: 9 PPG 8 Reb 2 Blks

Career Peak Season: 14 PPG 10 Reb 3.5 BLK

I think both guys are physical freaks, but lets remember they play different positions. Ibaka is a 4 and McGee is a 5. I think Ibaka will have the better career in the long run, as he is only 20 and already a great help defender with developing man skill. He has a better than expected 15-17 ft jumper and only will improve. McGee seems a bit lax sometimes on the court, and his effort level rises and falls based on how many touches he gets. McGee and DeAndre Jordan sort of the same mold? Just don’t think he has “it”, Could be wrong.
    Ibaka 2010-2011- 12 pts 6.5 rbs 2 blks
    McGee 2010-2011- 8pts 5 rbs 1.5 blks

He has basketball IQ more than Mcgee because has played organized basketball more, mcgee started playing basketball early but not organized basketball, because he was traveling with his mum. Even though am a wizards fan am leaning a little towards ibaka because the wizards doesn’t have a good record of teaching young players fundamentals. If Mcgee can figure it out he has the tools to be better than ibaka but I doubt it

I agree with you 100%. McGee has a chance to be something significant.

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a Thunder fan, but that I do hate bullshit. This was a question when he was in the NBA draft. His age has been certified by EVERY team in the NBA and two non-native countries (USA and France). No question in my mind. It has happened before, but not in this case. And Ibaka didn’t play ball, organized or not, till he was 15, and without access to the great (comparitively) coaching in the US. I’m done with you now.

I think he’ll need to start first, since he his bigger than Jeff green he can defend bigger guys. Sometimes people play well when they come of the bench

Im just going to say ibaka because he came on to the scene faster. He hasnt been in the NBA for as long as Mcgee but he is helping his team more. I compare this to saying who is better Big Baby or Perk, once Big Baby entered the league he was making a significant impact but it took Perk longer to get where he is now. Both Perk and Mcgee were projects with higher ceilings.

Although I really like Ibaka, I have to say an emphatic McGhee. I started following him after Haywood got shipped out to see how he’d perfom and he was very inconsistant in March, he have 17 and 11 one game and 6 and 6 the next. That kind of thing, but he became a little more conisistant in April and averaged 13 8.5 and 3 in only about 25 minutes or so. He also was 10th in the NBA in blocked shots while playing 16 minutes per game, that is an insane stat. Noah made serious strides in his 3rd year and I look for McGhee to do the same.

I’d take Ibaka, McGee is more unique because of his length and athletesism but he is so inconsistent.
Ibaka workks his @ss off every game and is a freak athlete too, I think he should start next season. I’m pretty biuased being a Thunder fan. I’ve also not seen that much of McGee.
McGee has a chance to be something special, Ibaka will absolutely surely be a very solid role player, I just take granted over potential

I like McGee a lot, but I did not see any progression from year one to year two. At such a young age, he should be getting much, much better every season. He also plays for a horrible Wizards team and Ibaka had better minutes playing for a much more talented Thunder team that game the Lakers trouble in Round 1. He is also younger than McGee. Although I like both players, McGee maybe even more, I would have to definitely say Ibaka.
    Best Year:
    McGee – 12ppg, 7.5rpg, 2bpg
    Ibaka – 13ppg, 10rpg, 2.5bpg

i love serge ibaka hustle. He plays so hard out thee and he obviously is raw but has a lot of talent. I feel like he can be 1 of those great role players 1 day like paul millsap. Hes goin 2 get a lot of interest if he develops well. But mcgee’s potential is jus so great. the kid can leap, plays defense pretty well and has a lot of room 2 grow

    So far this year

    Mcgee 8pts 6reb 3blks
    Ibaka 12pts 8reb 3blks

Rounded up if it’s .5 or higher for Both players

I still say ibaka and he’s younger with a year less experience

McGee’s stats besides his blocks are less than impressive because he is not geting the minutes. Even though Ibaka is not starting, he’s averaging 29.9 minutesper game, while McGee is averaging 24.2 minutes per game. Ibake is averaging 5.7 more minutes than McGee. BUT, with that being said, McGee’s lack of minutes are understandable because he has made some BONEHEAD  plays sometimes, and Flip Saunders is getting tired of it. JaVale at this point is more style than substance. But in the past few games, he has been playing better defense and getting more rebounds. He is restrainig himself from trying to block everytime in order to prevent foul trouble. I haven’t seen Ibaka play yet this season, so I can’t judge him, but McGee is learning. I hope he continues to get better and better as the season goes on.

I think I must retract what I said, I’ve watched almost every Ibaka game and he looks great, his midrange jumper is fallin (and playing with Durant and Westbrook you know he’ll be open a lot). He’s been great on D and rebounding better than McGee too.

The Thunder shoud trade Green ASAP, that will let Ibaka continue his progress and maybe solve the centre problem/add the Thunder some depth

Ibaka has looked good so far in 2011.  He’s shown some nice post moves, the ability to hit 16-18 footers, and is blocking shots at a high clip.  If he continues to improve he will be a monster.

Exactly. He isn’t getting the minutes because he hurts more then he helps and hasn’t deserved the minutes. The same can be said for evry single player in the NBA who comes off the bench or starts but doesn’t play alot of min. I still think ibaka is better Now while being younger and has more potential. And he’s proven that so far
