OhCanada-ParticipantWades going to Cleveland. Why hasnt he resigned yet. Just doesnt make sense.
NBA seems to be a fake sport. I feel like a little kid being strung along in its immature dramas and storylines yet I can’t help but be drawn to it. Its like wrestling but at the end of the day they truly compete.
Hype machine said it best they are leading up to the 3rd series. Durant goes to GSW Wade goes to Cavs and the 3rd series goes to the true Champion. Like in boxing.
Still gotta watch out for the Spurs though. With or without Duncan they will still beat any megateam if they aren’t taken seriously. Gimmicks or no gimmicks.

OhCanada-ParticipantThe league is pissed because the cap spike made it possible while other teams are forced to pay for bad players fue to a minimum cap. At the same time players wont say a thing about it because some of these guys are getting small fortunes. So everyone gets more money to spend, everybody has to invest now and only the best teams get to acquire the best players.
The NBA just went and did exactly what they said they wouldn’t by creating a few monopoly teams. Nice little formula they had. Increase the cap so our best teams could add our best players then create a minimum cap so every other team has to invest money and will not have cap room going forward.

VRod305ParticipantIt’s not possible for Wade to go there without LeBron taking a hell of a lot less. It never made sense to me why they just didn’t let Love walk away last year. Paying him 22 million a year when you could pay someone 1/4 as much is dumb.

tblazer_NZParticipantHis Contract looks good how with players like Barnes and Parsons getting about the same money.

negguaryParticipantthe whole world is mad at heinke for doing what he did for this very reason which is virtually the only way to combat this! Yet Adam silver got him booted for this due to a flawed monopoly system he set up!

Hype MachineIts hard to write on a topic like this without sounding like a total crackpot, but you gotta ask…
Could the last season + the predictably ending 2017 season be scripted in a way that was more profitable to the companies which paid for the mega TV rights deal. The deal that is responsible for guys like Dellavedova earning 10m per year.
ESPN wants their damn money worth for their cable TV channel in a world where people are cutting the cable and using internet streaming and on demand services more and more.
You think ESPN doesnt have an input regarding the intensity of Utah Jazz defenders when Kobe ‘magically’ goes for 60 on ESPN.
ESPN didnt pay that much money so that everyone can watch different games on league pass. They want all the star power on the court at the same time…which will be the select games they broadcast.
For the players…its not about being in the big markets, its about being on ESPN.
So now its Cleveland vs GSW part III…’the Durant $equel’

ph90702I wish the NBA had a salary cap similar to the NFL where the contracts aren’t guaranteed and signing bonuses don’t count against the cap. I’m also not a fan of the minimum spending requirement because teams are forced to spends gobs of money on marginal players and strangle their team building efforts going forward.

ChewyParticipantBut, it somewhat forces teams to play NBA players. If I’m Hinkie and want a top draft pick AND there is no cap minimum… I’m Jackie Moon in this place and making myself the starting SF, my banker at PF, my mother-in-law at C, my 2 year old nephew at PG (for ratings and cuteness factor) and Cuttino Mobley at SG.
We go 0-82, highest chance for number 1 pick and everyone who shows up wastes their money.

OhCanada-ParticipantIt forces teams to pay Timofey Mosgov more than Pau Gasol. In what world? This way Gasol still gets paid more than he would without the cap increase and rule changes. Everyone else like Mozgov gets paid so they won’t complain. Ultimately the NBA gets the marketing platform they want.

machu46ParticipantI just don’t buy the Wade to Cleveland rumors. Would probably require losing Love. IMO, replacing Love with Wade makes Cleveland worse.
I’ll be pretty shocked if Wade doesn’t end up returning to Miami, and I’d guess Milwaukee is the #2 option.

holefillers1ParticipantIt would require those guys taking less than max deals. Just like they did in Miami. I have more of a problem with that than anything regarding KD or the cap floor.

nill650ParticipantWhy would Wade who wants 60 mill be even a consideration for the Cavs who can go over the cap for both but still have to sign Smith and James , they are not letting either of them go. Why people continue to give Love no Love is beyond me…the guy is a beast. He is a match up problem defensively to some degree against the Warriors, but not most other teams, and what he gives you on the boards and points off his passing are hard to find in a pf. The Cavs might consider trading Love if he had’nt been such a key player in the East despite his Concussion play during the finals, but he was a key to them winning, period.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIt’s not possible financially. The Cavs are already at $77 million. Then add in LeBron James’ $30 million cap hold and JR Smith’s $10 million cap hold. That’s almost $120 million. They have no money.
The only way Wade could sign there is if he took like the veterans minimum or maybe some form of MLE. He’d have to take a SIGNIFICANT paycut lol.
It’s just not realistic. It’s not possible.
