To piggyback off of @BadNewsBarrett (thread about OKC getting over the top) and this article i just read on ESPN about the Lakers’ options at replacing D’Antoni…

     espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/10867253/los-angeles-lakers-plan-court-kevin-ollie-uconn-huskies-john-calipari-kentucky-wildcats

If the Thunder don’t win this Game 7 and get ousted already, will Sam Presti look to fire Scott Brooks for Kevin Ollie?

He’s comin off of a National Championship, he used to play for OKC in 2010 and he’s got a great friendship with Kevin Durant (as per the link)

I think George Karl needs to coach this team.  He made Melo efficient.  Helped Ty Lawson be almost unguardable. Showed the world that Aflallo was better than they thought.  Made JR Smith the 6th man of the year.  Helped Birdman reestablish himelf in the NBA. He helped Nene drop his last name.  He took a bunch of head cases and made them work together.  Then, once Denver traded Melo, he took a group of role players and went to the playoffs. Imagine what he could do with a team of level headed players commited to winning?

Durant would get better looks.  Westbrook would shoot less but have a bigger impact.  Ibaka would learn to score more in the post and get lobs thrown his way.  Lamb, PJ3, and Adams would all become bigger factors for the team and Reggie Jackson would start getting mentioned as a 6th man of the year candidate.

He’s coaching for his life he FINALLY made a lineup change and he may need to make another one seeing as Adams guarded Z-Bo better than anybody else has all series. He still lacks an identity as a coach they have nothing to hang their hats on. The grizzlies may may a smart move a start Allen so Durant doesn’t get going early and that may lead to OKC firing Brooks or trading Westbrook. I would love for the Thunder to look at Fisher or Hollins because they are great leaders that’s what they need especially if they plan on keeping Westbrook and Durant together

He needs to go regardless of what happens short of a championship. He’s had three years to try out new offensive sets with Durant and Westbrook but he has made no progress. There are so many ways to get them moving or screening and to be creative but their offense is still mostly a cluster f***. Bill Simmons highlighted what Kevin Durant said about Kevin Ollie last year and it was pretty profound the impact Ollie had on Durant and the whole Thunder team according to his testimony. If they can get him, they have to. After this headline debacle and the Harden situation, the Thunder really have to start thinking in terms of the very real possibility of Durant leaving. Hiring Kevin Ollie would be a good step to combat that.

He still seems to be confused about Perkins as well. Not only should the guy not play unless there is a specific Center to contest with on the other side (and Memphis happens to be on of those Centers), but he definitely shouldn’t be getting any post up attempts.

But the GM is really to blame for trading Harden for a one year (and twice as expensive) rental of K Martin. Harden is having a terrible season, but one has to think if we were looking at the fourth year of the OKC big three playing together, at this point they would be one of the greatest offensive teams ever.

I would be shocked if Scott Brooks is fired unless they lose this Game 7 tomorrow, and even if that happens I still see it as extremely unlikely.  His only knock on him has been his lack of changing line-ups when necesarry, and believing that there is anything beneficial to come from Kendrick Perkins being on the floor.  I am NO THUNDER fan so I may sing a different tune if I was, but you have to remember only 1 coach wins the championship every year (no duh), meaning only a select few ever do and in my opinion Brooks and tons of other coaches should be judged on how they deal w/ their player personal and not their playoff records UNLESS their poor playoff records seem to correlate with some poor coaching decesions.  Idk I am just sick of all the Mark Jackson firing talk, Scott Brooks over rated talk, and all the speculative coach bashing lately on major networks.  I’m sorry the Mark Jackson talk just perplexes me, I mean do they remember where they were before him?!  He increased Golden State by 25 wins between his first and second season…damn good to me.  And only 3 years for an opportunity?  I mean some time managment does just a little too much "managment."
