darkman97ParticipantScottie Pippen called Lebron James the best player ever huh? Well the NBA announced the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players. Only thing is that this was made way back in 1996. I will show the players chosen back then and want to see who needs to be added but you have to remove someone already on the list. I’m not going to say I’ve seen all of these players play (because some were before my time) so this may be unfair to some players. I am sure that Kobe Bryant and Lebron should be on this list which two would you take off. Any other players?

NJHooper95ParticipantI dont think Lebron is greatest ever but I understand where scottie is coming from. There a has never in the history of the league, been a perimeter player with the size, strength, speed, leaping ability, and skill set of Lebron James. N we can say the same for shaq in his early years. Talent for talent Lebron maybe the best ever, but he is still lacking. His Jumper is stll suspect at times, and off the dribble, he cant really blow by anyone anymore, he always uses his hand to try and create space. But I understand Scottie, but I dont agree.

DanEboyParticipantFor the record, Pip didn’t say he was FOR SURE the best. He said he MAY be the best ever.
“Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play the game. I may go so far as saying LeBron James may be the greatest player to ever play the game.”
He is probably the most talented player to ever play the game…..but still has a ways to go before being crowned the best.

Demarcus OnealParticipantYou cant be the best player to ever play the game without winning a title yet

NJHooper95ParticipantA title is not necessarily the one thing that makes you the best, because no matter how good a player, you still need a good team to win in todays nba. If we go strictly off titles then why are we not talking about Bill Russell as the GOAT? <

6-6-6-lolParticipantThe league before the 1908s was very different. Remember that it was even the CBA.
Thumb me down, but put guys like Russell and Chamberlain against today’s competition and they wouldn’t be as effective. They would be all-stars but certainly not as dominant. No way would Chamberlain get 100 points in a single game and no way would the Celtics win the championship for almost a decade in the row because of Russell.
The league today is much more competitve overall. Most CBA players were making what factory workers made… minimum wage. There are a lot of gems before 1980 but I doubt they could compete in today’s league… and that includes guys like Cousey, Frazier and even West.
On a side note, Dominique Wilkens deserves to be on that list.

NJHooper95ParticipantOf course they wouldnt dominate in today’s game. But that why its hard to say who is the greatest ever. We have to judge players on how they dominated their own era. Because the average player in the league now, could go back and dominate the Cousy era, so thats not fair to those guys who were the best of who they played with.

6-6-6-lolParticipantGood post NJHopper95!
Robert Horry won 7 NBA championships. That’s more than Jordan, Kobe or Shaq lol.
Steve Kerr has won 5 NBA championships. Lebron and Wade would be lucky to get 5 rings lol.
Championships are only one part of the equation.
