The battle of the elite mid major point guards..I’m personally a huge fan of Casper, with him being from Southern California. Been following him since his days at Ghar High School. He’s as tough as nails and has very quick hands on defense. His perimeter jumper has improved tremdously since his high school days, so has his physique. It was a treat watching him play alongside Lebron in the Drew League this past summer. He was also named the MVP of the entire league. Lebron also gave him a shout out on Twitter after Long Beach State’s big win over Pitt earlier this season. Casper has always been known as being a tireless worker, and I’m glad his success and improvement has continued in the collegiant level. If Long Beach St. can finally get the Big West Tourney Championship monkey off their back they can make some noise early on in the Tournament.

I honestly haven’t heard of Scott Machado until this season when Jay Bilas mentioned that he’s been perhaps the best point guard in the country in passing the ball other than North Carolina’s Kendall Marshall. Since then, I tuned in to a couple of Iona game’s. The thing that stood out the most when watching him play was his poise & demeanor. He literally doesn’t blink when dribbling the ball up and down the court and penetrating and making plays for his teammates. I was also surprised how talented the Gael’s were – playing alongside Momo Jones (Arizona transfer) & Mike Glover. Don’t mistake his game as just a ball hander & distributor, he can also light it up from beyond the arc. I also like his ability to finish around the rim and initiate contact. IMO Scott has what it takes to be a prominent 6th man in the NBA and might even turn into a starter depending on his team’s situation.

I need the board’s opinion on the two. Both players ARE going to be drafted in the upcoming NBA draft. IMO you can’t go wrong with either one, as both players are the star players for their teams and their respected teams rely on their production to win games.

I had a chance to catch Machado when Iona played Maryland early in the season and I was seriously impressed. He has great court vision and consistently found open teammates for easy buckets, both on the break and in half court sets. He can also score (49% fg 41% 3p) from mid and 3 and get to the basket. Iona plays an extremely uptempo style, which really attests more to Machado’s poise and coolness. He plays fast but under control.

I dont think both will get drafted, Machado may be in, but unless Ware has a big tourney run he will have to make a team through summer league or d league.
