NCarmean18ParticipantThere are some rumors going around that Dennis Schroeder is struggling during his individual team workouts. There have been no indications as to what he is struggling with, but that he hasn’t been as impressive as most teams would expect from a likely lottery pick. With potential character issues added to the equation, this could ultimately lead to him falling in the draft. More interestingly though, this could mean that the Utah Jazz would be in favor of selecting Shane Larkin with the 14th overall pick over a guy like Schroeder, even though 14 seems like a stretch for Larkin.
What do you guys make of this? Will he still stay in the lottery, and if not, how far will he fall? I’m interested in hearing the forum’s perspective, especially with foreign players.

bloodshyParticipantI’ve heard a lot of the same. Apparently Larkin looked really good in his workout and Schroeder looked very raw. However, it’s also true that Schroeder got the unfortunate match-up of going against Siva. Regardless of your opinion of Siva as an NBA talent, he’s clearly a high level defender and probably better than anyone Schroeder has seen thus far.
I love Schroeder’s upside, but know so little about him that I’m still iffy on the pick. On the other hand, I’m not a huge fan of picking Larkin at 14. I just don’t think he’ll be the BPA at that point and I have serious concerns about his ability to really make it in the NBA. I would not be at all surprised if the Jazz went a different direction at 14 and took a wing or a big instead. At 21 the PG options may not be very different than at 14.

Captain LParticipantI’ve felt for a while that the character issues would end up hurting him and then with the news that he has struggled in the workouts, I definitely think he will fall. With Schroder the physical attributes of length and speed etc are enticing but he is still pretty much an unknown.
I think that Larkin came into the Jazz workout and was impressive and showed he can play D, (the big question mark for him), with Larkin you know he can produce on the offensive end and his character and pedigree are impressive.
As far as the Jazz pick at 14, if MCW were available, I’d grab him but if not I’d look at taking Larkin, at least you know what your getting with him.
Personally I’d love to see the Jazz take Giannis but that probably won’t happen, next I’d like to see a big to go along with Kanter and Favors, probably Plumblee if available , maybe Gobert or Nogueria , both of them are projects but they are long , shot blockers and look like they would be a good fit as a 3rd big.0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/11/2013 - 11:17am #795080

JoeWolf1I’ve heard Schroeder’s struggles have come with his inability to stay focused and intense through the duration of the workout.

Brennan23ParticipantYeah I am confused about the character issues? Bad additude, lazy, dumb or all three?

JoeWolf1Immature, can slack off or lose intensity during workouts. I’ve heard he was arrogant, but not in a good competitiveness type way.
