BasketballGuru24ParticipantCommon This guy erupted in the Ncaa Tournament and has a great shot with amazing athletecism….Why is this guy being overlooked and i know he doesn’t have perfect dribbling skills but this guy in my opinion is a top 20 player common there putting him lower than hansbrough lool

butidonthavemoneyI don’t think he will fall past 20. If Minnesota gets Rubio or Jennings they will probably take Young at 18. Otherwise Minnesota will take Maynor or Holiday.
Chicago, Philly and Utah are also strong possibilities.

WälseParticipantisn’t he 24? his potential is already tapped to a large degree, unlike a lot of the younger guys.

tli232Sam Young reminds too many people of Joey Graham. Just based on that, people are going to be reluctant to draft his guy higher than 20. Young has a better perimeter shot at this stage, but lacks the handles and quicks to effectively play at the 2 or 3. He might turn out to be a David West type player in 3-5 years, that’d be stretching it at that.

deuce4offCan Sam Young dribble, create his own shot, create shots for others, defend well? No. Will he be 24 by the time next season rolls around? Yes. Everyone thinks this guy will be a stud b/c he can knock open 3’s and can dunk in transition. He’s an undersized SF with average athleticism and lacking youth of every other prospect, throw in his flaws I mentioned earlier, this guy will be lucky to go 1st round.
Players I would take before Young.
PG’s: Rubio, Jennings, Maynor, Lawson, Flynn, Curry, Mills, Price, Teague, Collison, Jerrells
SG’s: Harden, DeRozan, Ellington, Henderson, Budinger, Evans, Holliday, Thornton, Taylor, McNeal, Christmas
SF’s: Clark, Johnson, Brown, Williams, Summers, Casspi, Cunningham, Green, Lyons
PF’s: Griffin, Hill, Lawal, Hansbrough, Gibson, Blair, Adrien, Heytvelt
C’s: Thabeet, Mullins41 players that easily could go before Young, and should

eprizzle14ParticipantI would NOT take Jerrells, Thornton, Mcneal, Lawal, Adrien and probably Gibson ahead of Young. He’s not a guy who you give the ball to with 8 sec left on the shot clock and say go create but he can slash to rim look for alley’s. Maybe he’s a less ahtletic Marion, they both have funky jumpers.

cprizz15Participanthow can you just take the ten mins it prob took to write that post, read what you wrote, and possibly think ppl would agree with you, you named like every point guard besides akognoin and rice. maybe you were just over reacting.
and somebody up there said he could be like david west? it makes me not even wanna participate in this forum anymore, and hes way better than average athletically..

sheltwon3ParticipantI think he should be late 20’s pick because he is similiar to Graham who has had some decent games for the Raptors but he doesn’t seem to fit and may have been drafted too high but he is not bad enough to be labeled a bust. Also Stephen Graham who is Joey brother is more skilled than Joey and maybe people may see him in Young. Joey is more tougher though.

Meditated StatesParticipantHe can come off of screens and nail that jumper all the time. That equals out to a lot of scoring. You run plays for him where he comes of fast and fires. He can hit the open three when a player kicks it out from penetration better than Graham. When they try to run him off the catch he can shot fake and put it down one or two times then pull up. I don’t know if he will score 20 a game I doubt it, but he will be better than Joey in my opinion. 15 a game i could see out of him.

ctw724ParticipantHe can hold his own against Budinger and Ellington, that’s for sure.

They Bulls could use him. He’s got a Shane Battier type career written all over him.
