Can we at least give the Kings brass some credit for their unbelievable consistency.  The have been steady losing the draft for 6 straight years, by making selection after selection that causes basketball minds to constantly scratch their head in unparralleled uniform. On another note, remember when they started really hot (11-13 for the Kings was like 24-0 for GSW this year) two years ago and were in playoff contention 1/3 of the way into the season and then fired Mike Malone for absolutely no reason and replaced him with Tyrone Corbin who lead them to 7 wins over the next 28 to get them right where they strive to be, in the early to middle lottery. I, for one, applaud this teams persistent commitment to being mediocre at best.  They are masters of their craft.

    WCS was a solid pick.

Calling WCS a solid pick is a reach.  While it wasn’t the normal Sacramento Facepalm.  His selection should probably be considered fair at best.  He’s still very limited offensively, he still plays the same postion as SAC’s franchise centerpiece, and with blue chippers like Mudiay, Booker, and Winslow selected right after him, Sacramento certainly could have done better.

It was a massive reach. That said, nobody would be saying anything if they’d taken Malachi or even Skal at #13. They got both in the 20’s. I’d say it was a solid draft for them.

They basically used 3 first round picks on guys that probably aren’t going to contribute much for awhile. Papagiannis just seemed like a completely unnecessary reach at that point in the draft. They could have gotten much better immediate value with that pick and used one of their later picks on a project like papagiannis. I actually thought skal and Richardson were pretty good value picks for where they were drafted, but both are kind of raw and probably could have both used another year in school to develop more. This is a team with immediate needs that they did not address in this draft. I thought they could have clearly done better.

Does anybody know the full details of the proposed trade that sent chriss to Phoenix? I know Phoenix was rumored to be looking to trade bledsoe. Is he part of the deal?

Phoenix traded #13, #28, rights to Bogdan Bogdanovic and a future second rounder to Sacramento for #8.

No idea how Phoenix got away with that trade without having to trade Bledsoe or Knight. Great job, Phoenix

When they first announced the trade I thought Bledsoe would bring back the old Phil Ford days for the Kings. How spineless must you be not to be able to demand one of those players for a kid like Chriss? It’s astonishing…

is that B/c they Did land In the Top 10 – —— the 1st round pic that Vlade traded to the Sixers this time last year goes from being a top 10 Protected pick in 2018……..

to a Completely Unprotected 2019 – 1st round pick one year After Cosuins could leave in Free Agency

And they trade Out of the Top 10 Anyway!

When they Could have had Chriss – who scouts believe could have just as much upside as Ingram or Dunn….

Phoenix gave up a late first rounder and the rights to a guy who was drafted late first round in 2014 to move up 5 places in the draft. I am a Phoenix fan but the deal doesn’t look too bad from both sides.

I’d have been interested to know if other teams had known 8th pick was in play they might have tried to get it in the hope one of the backcourters who went 5 to 7 would have fallen to them or used it to try and pull a deal with NOP or Denver.

I think that 13th was a huge reach for Papagiannis, he wasn’t even in the first round mix on most consensus mocks and the Kings already have WCS to play alongside DMC.
