Professor RozayParticipantWith all the news that has come out about coach Rice and what he did to the players at Rutgers he had to go. Firing the coach was the right thing to do. But I do feel that the Athletic Director and maybe even the school president should have to go as well. This is such a bad look for the school. Now they need to hire a new coach. Who wants to take this job right now?

frogmanParticipantWhat did the AD or especially the school president do wrong? The AD took action by suspending him after seeing some footage. You’re acting like this was like the Penn State scandal, even one of the players came out and stated that yes he went overboard but none of the players were scared of him or anything like that. Yes he had to go but this is not some cursed job you are making it out to be

bobbybParticipantIF the AD saw the same footage we did, this coach should have been fired ASAP. NO 2nd chance, no suspension. When someone acts abusive as he did , there is no rehabilitating that. There are PLENTY of coaches who would give anything to coach at that level, give them the chance

bobbybParticipantI owned a restaurant and I found out I had a chef/manager who was abusive to my staff and was sexually harrassing a waitress.Even though he was a central part of my business, I wished him luck gave him one week severance pay and said ” have a nice day” …. I am a man, I have integrity. I would never allow my workers to be mistreated.

IknoBall12ParticipantIf you really are serious asking what did the AD do that deserves for him to be fired I question your morals. What if that was your kids? You’d want a lot more than for him to just be suspended trust me

frogmanParticipantIf he gets fired that’s a joke. It’s not his fault his coach was a crazed drill sergeant. Did anyone see the interview where their assistant coach said that whenever the AD came in to see what was happening Rice was all encouraging and everything and he didn’t see anything wrong? You say If it was my kids, yes I would want him fired. But if you were related to the AD would you find it fair if he was fired for the ridiculous actions of the coach? Exactly.

bobbybParticipantFrogman you dont get it, when you are an AD , you are working in a fiduciary position . It isnt just about winning games and making the NCAA’s. It is a lot bigger than that. IT is about ethics. IF he knew that this behavior was going on, the AD should be let go. Also there should be clauses in the coaches contract that should be about behavior.
