JunkYardDogParticipantrose in an interview to associated press talked about the rookie scale, his will to see it disappeared (get back to 94) and his feeling about not being paid the way he should have been….
I can’t post the link cause I only got his transcription in french, but I’d like to have your feeling about that. Here is mine (quickly).
I think some rookies are underpaid, but they get the money they deserved (after proving themselves) after 4 years only. Therefore the better of them are getting other incomes (ad’….).
With the difficulties to predict how a prospect will become I think it’s unbelievable to think coming back to the old system (before glenn big dog robinson). Remember he asked for 100M and 13 years (he got 68 in 10). How can you rebuild a team if you’re stuck with 5,7,10 years contracts on guys like swift, fizer, curry, brown, milicic….
this only sounds to me as everytime (from the players and the owners) in this lockout : a millionaire begging, crying, complaining to win more millions. And I’m surprised it comes from rose…
I’m not naive but IS THERE ANYBODY IN THIS LEAGUE WHO CARES ABOUT ORANGE AND NOT ONLY GREEN ???

projectpat310ParticipantThis article explains it best: http://www.baselineJ.com/derrick-rose-no-nba-salary-cap/ And, yes, I agree with you… Sad to hear this from Rose.

IndianaBasketballParticipantYou can’t blame Rose for wanting to get paid…
Based on what he’s accomplished in NBA and for the Bulls, he’s SIGNIFICANTLY underpaid.

Scottoant93Participant^^^ I think he’s still on rookie scale which in fine, yeah he is underpaid but he will get his big contract when it runs out, saying you derserve big money coming straight out of college without proving yourself is just Delusional, maybe if he said making rookie contracts shorter in length, it would be fine. I don’t care in any job you have to prove yourself before you make big sports is no DIFFERENT,…..butbut their the product so are actors but they don’t get paid big money, or get big roles when they first start. Seriously their making millions and their complaining…people are out on the streets begging for jobs, other countries are starving but he’s complaining because he is underpaid as a rookie. Once Again i have no problem with him mentioning the rookie scale, but he should ask for shorter contracts not more money when they haven;t proven sh!t yet(referring to nba rookies coming in general, not drose he’s proved he’s a great player).

projectpat310ParticipantGood point, in ANY job, you need to prove your worth and work your way to the top. Period. You don’t start making CEO salary as a 22 year old, fresh out of college… Unless you’re the kid of the owner LOL
It just seems to me that certain celebrities and athletes don’t appreciate what they have. Remember, its the fans that make you rich by spending money on tickets, merchandise, concessions, and watching televised games. Without us you’re nothing… One day you might end up like MC Hammer or Antoine Walker. Broke.

HitsterParticipantThe rookie scale has to stay but I always go back to the idea that top players should earn their best money at the peak of their careers not being on $25 million when they are 35 years old etc. So D-Rose should be able to earn what any other stop star does when he comes off his rookie deal not wait until he is near the end of his career to do so.
