UNCbasketballbumParticipantafter Wade’s insane block on Brandon Bass, was incredible. At first I thought the ball was just batted to Pietrus in the corner for the wide open 3 and the Cletic had gotten extremely lucky. When I saw the replay and Rondo tip that ball out, I was stunned. The vision, hustle and wherewithal Rondo showed to tap that ball out to Pietrus pretty much epitimizes Celtic hustle and heart. Incredible play.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThe play of the game… He was in control the whole time.

NCarmean18ParticipantBoth plays were extremely nice. I think Rondo is one of the most talented players in the game whenever it’s all said and done. His ability to penetrate, pass, rebound, and defend are something special for a guard his size. He’s truly an amazing specimen, and one of my favorite players to watch in the NBA. His tip pass was something of perfection, and Pietrus made the play that basically saved Boston the game by hitting the open 3, cutting the deficit to 2 I believe. That killed all momentum Miami had.
But even though that was a great play, I think Dwayne Wade’s block was better. It looked like bass had a clear path to the basket, and even with Wade there, he looked like he had enough momentum to jam it down over him. However, Wade has that amazing leaping ability and he got so high up, JaVale McGee would’ve been impressed.
It’s truly something special to see all of the great plays being made during the NBA Playoffs, and athletic freaks like Dwayne Wade and Rajon Rondo make it that much more fun to watch. Excellent and entertaining series.

IndianaBasketballParticipantYea, that Wade block was something special. Before that Rondo play, it was the play of the game.

SpacegrassParticipantWas watching the game with some Lebron blow hards and when that play happened all they could say was Boston got lucky. I made them rewind the DVR to show them what happened and they still tried to dispute it as just luck. Heady play by Rondo despite not having his offense going last night. The Heat dominated that game statistically on the boards yet every 50/50 ball went to Boston. As many talking heads have said , Boston is intense and focused , playing like they know this is their last shot at a title. While Lebron/Wade and company are playing like they are too cool to play the way the Celtics are.
Lebrons MO , when things are going his way he will flex and pose then lap up every ounce of praise he can. Then when things don’t go his way he tries to be Mr. Cool , that mentality is about to get him and the Heat sent home.

TMoney617ParticipantSorry to say this but why is everyone making a HUGE deal about this play. I watched ESPN for 30 min. and they talked about it twice. I mean it was a good play and it was at a crutial moment in the game but any point guard would tip the ball to the open man. I agree it wasn’t luck but it may be a little overhyped because it was Rondo that did it.

BasketballGuru24Participantgame 5 , 4th qtr, tight game…..Bass just got blocked from an easy 2 pt dunk. This would have killed their momentum if heat regained position. Take in the ball was in the air and he had to pretty much win a jump ball against lebron james….possibly the most atheltic guy in the league. Defining moment in the game

TallmanNYCParticipantTMoney, I’ve seen tips to open guys off of rebounds. I’ve done it myself. But I’ve never seen someone tip a rebound all the way to the three point. And Rondo hit Pietrus right in the chest, it was a perfect pass! It was incredible.

TRC1991ParticipantRondo impacts the game on so many levels… I know he can be sort of a pill but the guy is too dynamic at so many faucets of the game

akhan786ParticipantHere’s the video in case anyone is wondering…
The wherewithal to not only out jump Lebron but also to find a target to tip it to is mind blowing…

NihochuParticipantIf the season was the same style as the playoffs, i would take rondo first for my team, this guy is just so so good for a team and under more intensity and more value he seems to play even better.

mhawk19ParticipantThere are guys that are just so heady and aware and make things happen, that’s Rondo all the way. Reminds me of the play maybe 4 years ago in the finals when Ginoboli was bringing it upcourt on a fast break and someone fell right in front of him. Without missing a beat he leaps over the guy while dribbling behind his back, it was poetry in motion for sure.
To second what was already said though it drives me nuts to watch Lebron trying to act so cool. Look dude you gonna be trying to act cool if you lose no matter what so you might as well play desperate while you’re on the court and can do something about it. Everyone else is gritting teeth, doing knuckle pushups, and playing like it’s their last game. What is bron doing? Laying it up when he should be dunking, falling back when he should be driving forward…who’s the best sports psychologist out there?
