joshsm12ParticipantNow that the Pistons got Jennings, all the rondo to detriot rumors died. If Rondo was now to be traded who would be a team that would need him and have assests to give up? Utah comes to mind but they are already so young Rondo wouldnt put them over the top. Ill make a bold prediction, Rondo comes back by December/January plays out the season with em. Thunder lose in the playoffs again and Westbrook and Durant have a falling out. Next offseason celts trade Rondo and a future first, maybe throw in a bradley or Sully for Westbrook….. Celts get the perimeter scorer to go with Jeff Green, Olynyk and high draft picks, Thunder get the distributor they need and add a future asset… I know it may not happen but i think its best case for both teams…

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI don’t think OKC would do a trade like that unless it involves receiving a scorer in return.
I mean, there’s a reason Westrbook takes so many shots, it’s because outside of Durant, nobody on that team can score. You can’t expect Ibaka to be a perfect 2nd option when he’s busy trying to shoot threes instead of banging down low and Rondo still has no jumper. Maybe including MarShon Brooks and Kelly Olynyk would give OKC a reason to do it.

JunkYardDogParticipantall the rondo for westbrook talks were valid when harden was in the house… now he has gone it’s almost impossible this trade happen one day.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantExactly, because they had a legitimate 2nd option that can score as well as finish. Now Ibaka would be the 2nd option to Durant and Ibaka is nowhere near ready for that and I don’t think he will ever be a legit 2nd option on a good team.

druneave3ParticipantProbably shouldn’t start any real basketball conversation with this, but when playing 2K fantasy association I usually draft Durant and George the first two rounds. Instead of Westbrook for Rondo, which I thought should have happened years ago, but is most likely dead at this point…. How about Westbrook for George? Would Pacers do Paul George and George Hill for Westbrook and one of their developmental young players- Lamb/Jones/picks? Or something of that nature?
George is the perfect 2nd option. A great defender, willing passer, and can take over the scoring load when need be. Having those two wing players with that length and a 1-2 scoring punch would be tough to beat. George has received many comps to Pippen and he and KD would be your next Jordan-Pippen combo.
Which combination of players would you want?
A. George/Durant
B. Westbrook/Durant
C. Rondo/Durant
I am probably playing too many video games, not sure the Pacers would even do this- and how much they value George, and this will never happen, but I would be calling if I was Sam Presti, rather than Rondo. I am sure some people, maybe most think I am undervaluing Westbrook or overvaluing George but I would value a player with the size and potential in George over a PG who shoots more than Kevin Durant.

omphalosParticipantDon’t sleep on Jeremy Lamb, if he shows something this year they might still go ahead with the trade; he’d be the perfect guy to benefit from Rondo’s play-making.
Also Ibaka is just the sort of player who would thrive alongside Rondo; he has a reliable mid-range jump-shot and can finish inside off a feed.
Although I’m a Celtics fan and Rondo is my favourite player I still think this would be the right move for OKC.
But I wouldn’t want to be stuck with Westbrook as our franchise guy.

Meditated StatesParticipantBut why do it when Rondo is actually the player who makes others better. Better player than Westbrook so no need to deal. Wont happen. Rondo is a top player in this league. He does the rare, make others better. That’s why he is still in Boston. If they deal him they need one of the best players in this league in return. Or a top 3 pick.

CavFanPRParticipantI think the celts and thunder might have a trade coming soon because Ainge was very high on Adams so a Rondo/Olynyk/Brooks for Westbrook/Adams deal could actually happen.

Brennan23ParticipantWestbrook is one of the best point guards in the league. I wouldn’t trade him for Rondo

Am I missing something, because last time I checked Westbrook was a top player in this league. As a Celtic fan I would be ecstatic to get Westbrook for Rondo, because it would give us a new direction to go in. Westbrook Bradley would be scary as **** on the defensive end of the floor, and with Jeff Green on the wing the only thing that team would need was a bench and a big man who can bang. That’s a lot better than our current situation, which revolves around the hope of Jeff Green taking another step, Rondo being able to take on a lot bigger role, or the ping pong balls.
While I typically think Rondo is under rated, I guess I have to catch myself if people are starting to think Rondo>Westbrook. Westbrook put up 23/7/5…as a second option. I would love to see what he could do by himself like Harden, and OKC would be stupid to give him up, even for Rondo

Meditated StatesParticipantRondo is better. Without elite athetic ability Westbrook is no where effective. Rondo as he ages is John Stockton type player. Rondo is better.
