qDizzle32ParticipantChad Ford is listing him as a possible first rounder for this upcoming draft. Haven’t seen him play much this year but I’ve seen highlights of him showing off his athleticism and also has a great outside shot. Every year, there’s somebody who never even gets talked about as a first rounder all season long, who always sneaks in at the last minute (Tony Snell, Jared Cunningham). Could he be the guy?

Forte IVParticipantA first rounder really? I personally don’t see it. He’s a 6’3 (possibly shorter) 2-guard who is shooting 36% from 3pt land which doesn’t stand out to me. He could potentially become a 2nd round pick once he’s a senior in two years but personally I don’t see him being a 1st rounder ever. Honestly, if he was taller he could be possibly considred, but his height is a factor.

tbest23ParticipantProbably not this year for Baker as he’s just a soph. Jimmer actually put up surprisingly solid numbers at the rookie combine. His lateral quickness was even top 3 somehow, though it hasn’t translated to the league. But then again Stockton’s numbers were measured with a sundial and he was pretty darn good for a couple of years 😉 Let’s see him do it a couple more years and hopefully against better competition than what he’s faced.

i’m jus so offendedParticipantFrom what i’ve heard, these “analysts” are bullish on him developing PG skills, making him a more intriguing prospect.

juves4783Participantyeah, they seem to like him as a pg. seen a few games. he does run the point quite a bit. at his size, he’d be a decent sized pg. the other thing i always think when i watch him play is it seems the dude has rajon rondo hands. i might be tripping on that though.
overall, i think his bball iq, physical defense and work ethic are things that scouts love. the guy was a walk-on that worked his way up. think he’d be a quality role player and a possible late 1st rounder, but not in this year’s draft.

terrancebowerParticipantThe only way I see him being a 1st rounder is if he stays a couple more years and developes into a big PG with scoring ability. I think this year there will easily be 60 players who declare who are better and have more upside than Baker, and I see him going undrafted if he declares. Otherwise I think he’ll be a lileky late second rounder in 2 years.

JoeWolf1He’s going to have a tough time gaining point experience in game since he’s in the same class as FVV, but I could see him as a 2nd rounder at some point, not sure if I’m on the same page as Ford, though. Seems like a 4 year guy to me.

Aran SmithKeymasterNot a PG and not an NBA prospect. Not at this point in time. Bad info. Definitely not coming from any informed scouts…. He will be lucky to ever be drafted. Most likely a low level European player.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantRon Baker is a freaking beast. Great energy and instincts. Very good size if he’s at the point. He’s got the basketball IQ to be a solid PG in the NBA IMO.
For what it’s worth, he was redshirted, so he’s already in his 3rd year, even though he’s only a sophomore.

McDunkinYou better not ever neg Aran I DVR’ed nearly every one of Wichitas blowouts and Baker isn’t a pg he is an undersized yet versatile combo guard. Like other said I see him being drafted after his senior year(drafted and successful in the league are 2 different things) The deeper they got into the season the more Fred Van Fleet became responsible for point guard duties and running the team.
