    Is the Roddy experiment over?

He’s having his worst season ever out of the 4 years he’s been in the NBA, and has regressed each year.

Is he not good enough or does he just need a change of scenery?

I’d like to see him on a new team and then go from there.

It’s been over for 2 years if you ask me, he had so much potential and athleticism before injuries took its toll on him; he still has bounce but he doesn’t look the same as he did before he got hurt. I think it’s time for Roddy and the mavs to part ways.

Yes, Roddy and the Mavs need to part ways, this has been said for 2+ years now.

But my question is, do you guys still think he’s an NBA player?

He’s still more athletic than your average guy, but the injuries have reduced him from “freak” athlete to good athlete, and I think that was his main attraction to stick in the NBA, and now he doesn’t have that and has regressed each year since the injuries.

Not sure, he showed potential to be an electric scorer off the bench but I haven’t seen major improvement to his perimeter game. His freak athleticism is what seperated him from alot of the undersized combo guards in the league, now that its gone he’s going to have to use more skill than speed. I think a team like Brooklyn, Utah, lakers could use him off their bench.

Yeah, doesn’t have that insane speed or hops he once did. He has never had great ball handling ability or court vision to be a legitimate pg. As a defender he has long arms and the foot speed, but can very easily be bumped off. I’ve seen a couple game him draining shots, however I’ve seen way more often games him completely off and missing the rim. For however long his career last, I don’t see him getting much playing time other then blow outs and garbage minutes.

Hasn’t been the same since injuries, but there’s definitely a place for him in the league. Maybe a Bobby Jackson type of role under Adleman?

I don’t think “regressed every year” is a fair assessment. In fact, other than shooting percentages (and I think everyone would agree that he was always going to be more of a 42% shooter than 52%), I don’t think you can say he hasn’t improved pretty significantly. I mean, this year has been a struggle for him, averaging a career low in minutes (despite being the one of two people on the roster that can play the PG spot at all), but he’s still shown some signs of improvement.

    ’11: ast/to-1.36, to/48min-4.5
    ’12: ast/to-2.17, to/48min-2.9
    ’13: ast/to-3.91, to/48min-1.8

I still like Roddy Buckets, he reminds me of Jerryd Bayless; he’s a guy who can produce when given starters minutes, but can never seem to hold down a starting spot. Like Bayless, I think people gave up on him too early and he can find a home somewhere else.

Actually ,as a Mavs fan ,I think he has improved his PG skills drastically since his rookie season ,he is a better PG right now ,learned to play under control and might say that he is actually a PG not an undersized SG ,it might just be me but I think he is the best passer the mavs have right now(not like we have a good one anymore)
the thing is,as you guys mentioned ,injuries took his athleticism ,his shoot isn’t falling too,but he is still working hard, tonight he tried to make 2 dunks and blocked, may be if he stayed healthy for another year he will be able to make hose dunks again
he will stick in the NBA for a few years,he is no more the sparking 6th man who can drive and score with his athleticism ,but he will be a back up PG with good defense
I doubt the Mavs will give him the qualifying offer and he will probably try to move for another team(and may be traded b4) ,will wish him all luck

Send him to the Kings, they love undersized tweener guards.
