I think a J will take away from him penetrating & attacking the rim, but I would like to see him add one as well at least take baby steps to a solid mid-range game.

  That doesn’t make any sense. If anything, a J will allow his to penetrate and attack the rim more because defenders wouldn’t be able to "Rondo" him and play so far off him. A J will make defenders play closer to him.

What I mean by take away……He may get too happy with his shot & just settle instead of attack which some players tend to do once they find a J.

^ an example of that would be rose against the heat in the rd round
he took to many threes and shot the ball in that series 24 times a game…and of those 24 attempts 6 of them were threes
i understand that he didnt have a ton of help… but thats still a lot of attempts…
but rose is still young and learning…
