Jose Calderon for Jerryd Bayless and Joel Prizbylla.
I think this deal is great for both team. Adds to the young gunz line for Toronto, and Portland gets a great back up for Andre Miller, and is the perfect PG for Brandon Roy.
Yes, no?

boffacheeriosParticipantJoel pryzbilla has proven to be a really good insurance policy to greg oden and i doubt he goes for a terrible contract like calderon’s

dwat4444ParticipantPortland needs pryzbilla as a securtiy blanket for Oden and a good backup. at this point, Calderon isnt that much better than a yound Bayless either. So, i don’t see why portland would do this.

Toronto16ParticipantBut they have Camby, and Joel is just coming off an injury.

McWinningParticipantYes thats why i would be willing to do Joel for him.
But Bayless has too much upside to be in that trade.
Maybe if there was a three way.

Toronto16ParticipantBut Portland has showed time and time again that they have no faith in Bayless, and have not giving him the minutes. He has asked for a trade in the past (though he denied it) and I’m sure he would be happier than anybody to get a chance to start.

Toronto16ParticipantA pass first point guard who had only one bad year? He could really help Greg Oden, especially if Oden stays healthy.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantNO. That’s a bad trade for Portland.
Why take on Calderon’s deal? I think they could use Bayless alot next season in Portland.

flybobbyflyParticipantAre the new guys in portland serious? what the F is going on with them.
Why did they give Matthews such a huge deal and get rid of webster for an unproven rookie that they didnt need. i feel like they arent doing a very good job. they dont really need bayless but losing prizbylla would hurt them. also they dont need calderon or his contract. dumb0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/10/2010 - 4:22pm #372265

NYK2010ParticipantI agree the Blazers moves this offseason have been questionable.
No way would I give up on Prizz and Bayless for Calderon.
Whey would the Blazerw want Calderon he makes 30 mill the next 3 yrs.
Meanwhile Prizzbilla is expiring and Bayless has 3 more yrs till he’s unrestricted.0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/10/2010 - 4:28pm #372269

IndianaBasketballParticipantOther than being happy for Bayless and the fact he’ll finally get minutes, I hate this trade. It’s awful for Portland.
I have no problem with them trading Bayless and Pryzbilla… I just think they could’ve gotten a better deal. Calderon isn’t that good and his contract is terrible.

llperez30 mill for the next 3 years to a a backup pg is a lot. And both oden and camby have a history of injuries, Przybilla could be very valuable if they have any more injuries.

SubZeroParticipantMarcus Camby is insurance for Joel Pryzbilla, and Joel Pryzbilla is insurance for Greg Oden. It wouldn’t be bad if it was just straight up Calderon for Pryzbilla, but they can get more value than just Calderon when you throw Bayless in the mix. Plus, he’s cheaper than Calderon and has more upside. All they need to do is give him minutes so he can be who they want him to be.
Also, I think I’ve seen Pryzbilla spelled right like once this whole thread. Lol

ilike.panochasParticipantWhat a dumbass trade for Portland. Do they not realize that they are in the same conference as the Lakers? You need big bodies to have a chance of beating LA, not another backup PG. Portland took a step back after this trade. Pryzbilla, Oden, Camby would have given Bynum and Gasol a tougher time.

joecheck88Participantif portland is holding out for a point guard, i think its going to be chris paul. maybe pryzbilla, bayless, miller, and babbitt for chris paul. calderon is good but like everyone else said they can do better if trading bayless.

IndianaBasketballParticipant“whos the unproven rookie?? if ur talking about Babbitt then you have no idea what kind of game this dude has.”
Every rookie is unproven until they play a ***NBA*** regular season game and go through the up’s/down’s of the ***NBA*** regular season. I don’t know why you think Babbitt is special… He’s not.
And to get on Babbitt… What has he proven? Nevada never was the best team in it’s conference the two years he was there… They never made it to the tournament… Never went very far in the NIT either. Nevada never beat anybody of major significance or importance. What exactly has he proven? That he could put up good numbers on a team that never cared about defending? Or that he could test well at the combine? What in the world do you think this kid has proven?

mikeyvthedonParticipantWould make a killing on that trade. Jerryd Bayless is a bonafied scorer, and he has the athleticism to at least keep up with most guards in the league. Throw in Joel, and you make the Blazers a much worse team. Jose is making far too much money and I do not think he has developed as many thought he would. He is a huge defensive liability and would lead to tons of fouls for Greg Oden, similar to Steve Blake, who I think was a better overall defender than Jose. Calderon is a great passer and has a very nice outside shot, but he was much better as a back-up and is being paid far too much for the Blazers to want to use him as one.

Zeke33ParticipantWell everyone says guys like John Wall are so promising…u dont call them unproven. Babbitt will be good and noone said hed be a superstar…I watched Babbitt destroy Renardo Sidney, Samardo Samuels, and James Harden. He dropped 35 over all of them. He’l Be solid and in the right situation be one of the best rookies in the draft

Winning_TimeParticipantI think Bayless is good enough and I’m not sure if Andre Miller would start over Calderon. If they bench Miller then I would consider this trade.
