Raptors Agree To Acquire Kyle Lowry

The Raptors are close to acquiring Kyle Lowry in a trade agreement with the Rockets.

Houston will receive at least one first round pick, most likely in 2013. The Rockets had tried to acquire Toronto’s 2012 pick while targeting either Andre Drummond or Austin Rivers.

For Toronto’s sake, I hope the pick is protected. For Houston’s sake, I hope whichever GM who takes over for Daryl Morey understands he doesn’t need to draft another forward.

I think he’s worth a little bit more than a first round pick, but it’s also well known he isn’t happy there, so I’m sure they just simply wanted to get rid of him. But I’m surprised they didn’t have better offers than this…

Should there really be a big market for a small guard with a bad attitude who is more of a scorer than point despite not having a mid-range game?

Not necessarily, but I can’t help to think they could have at least got a decent starter quality player for him. It really all depends on where the pick falls, obviously if it ends up a top 5 pick then it’s a good deal, but chances are higher than Raptors will end up in the 8-16 area since they *should* be a bit better this year. If that’s the case I think they will end up losing a starting PG for a bench player.

If Jeremy Lin ends up on Houston, then I like this Lowry trade for the Rockets. Kyle Lowry is a good point guard but he wants to start. So the best thing for Houston if Lin comes there would be to trade Kyle Lowry for assets.

If they can get the Raptors unprotected first round pick next year then that would be big. It could end up being a great pick. If they can get another 1st rounder too or some 2nd round draft picks then that would give Houston some more room to maneuver. 2nd round picks are great in trades and you can package them to move up in the draft too, or sell them for cash.

Next thing for Houston would be to get rid of Kevin Martin. If they can turn him into some solid picks and some young players then the Rockets will have some good young talent to build around.

Jeremy Lin, Jeremy Lamb, Royce White, Chandler Parsons, Patrick Patterson, and Terrence Jones is a good start for a young core. Then add that to Luis Scola and Sam Dalembert (or whoever they get if they trade him). Plus whatever they can get for Kevin Martin.

Don’t under the link. The title says " Raptors Agree To Acquire Kyle Lowry " yet the article says "The Raptors are close to acquiring Kyle Lowry in a trade agreement with the Rockets."

Has he been traded or not?

Aaron Brooks! S&T for anything, preferrably a SF. Since since teams are returning to their old vomit.

No point gaurd is on your roster. I don’t like McHale as a coach or the GM Morely. They should go ahead and go all in on Dwight, even if just for a year. If they sign Lin, it will bring some fans. Plans A-Z haven’t worked so they have to have something big brewing. They could play all these youngster’s in all fairness to them because I think they did draft well. If the trade rumor is more than a rumor than they need a Point Gaurd.

Morey was seen as one of the brightest GM’s around along with Presti, Burford etc but his recent moves are strange, do they look for a veteran PG for a year or s. Would Jason Kidd go there as he woul not need to uproot from Dallas and he already has his title.

Strange indeed. Could be they intend on bringing a payer like Felton in for a year or 2 and look to get a pg of the future via draft next year or using one of their thousand PF’s or combo forwards. Kevin Martin may end up bringing in something along with a couple prospects but I doubt it. Definitely baffling the way Morey has approached this offseason putting all eggs in the Dwight Howard basket.

Hey guys, there is somthing here, the deal is just Lowry for a top 3 protected pick, right? meaning that Houston gets a trade exception for 6 million dollars. I know Daryl Morey has made some questionable moves this off-season, but I am still a big fan of him, and I trust his moves. I suspect somthing is brewing here, and Houston isn’t done yet, because they don’t have a point guard! Goran Dragic is gone, they just traded Lowry, and the offer to Lin isn’t as extravagent as it was presumed to be, and word is that the Knicks will match. I don’t what will end up happening, but this will be interesting, but I still have faith in Morey, but if he doesn’t fix this, that Sloan conference is going to get awfully awkward.
