I was just thinking. If these players all came out the same year, what order would you take them?

2014 draft – Wiggins, J Parker (too bad about Embiid)

2015 draft – KAT, Pozingis, Okafor

    2016 draft – Simmons , other?

    I have :

1- KAT – Love big athletic defenders with offensive potential as well.

2- Simmons – though he is the only player NOT to play in the NBA yet, I just think he is the real deal.

3- Wiggins – as a Boston fan I would take him over what’s left. Though he is just tipping his potential play.

4- Porzingis – He does have a chance to top them all. Just hard to pass up on the others.

5- J Parker – obviously his injury last year set him back. Hard to know how good he may get. But I have always loved him.

6 -Okafor – if his defense was as good as his offense, he might be my number 1.

There isn’t really anyone else in these drafts I like above these guys. But if there is someone you like, please list.

So who are your franchise picks?

     1. Simmons = I know he can’t hit a jump shot, But I think he screams potential mismatch, I think he can’t be guarded by anyone in the NBA, including Davis. If he develops a dependable jump shot then we’re talking about a one of his kind player.

2 KAT = With his production now and his skill set combine with his good athletecism, I think he comes second. I love Wiggins, But a big man like KAT is hard to pass up considering his production now.

    3. Wiggins = His athleticism is on awhole new level compared to the past two players, his upside is great, plus his a two way player like the 2 ahead of him. he’s a run jump athlete wing. His creating off the dribble is a concern

4.Kristaps = He’s size athleticism and shooting alone make gm’s salivate on him. He’s a center with a shooting and mobility. The only concern I see is his strength issue. He’s so thin.

5 Parker = He’s a scoring stud, he can score all three levels, 3pts, mid range, close range, Ft line, name it. He’s Melo like of a gamestyle but I think he’s more explosive. and more tall. He can bring the ball down or go coast to coast, The only concern is his defense and he’s somewhat of a tweener when it comes to defense.

6 Okafor = much like parker he’s a liability on defense and his athleticism is a concer, plus the league today is more on outside shooting big man, there’s a few big man still with back to the basket game but they can hit jumpers like jefferson cousins lopez and Monroe. He needs to develop a jump shot

    That’s only my opinion

So basically the same as mine except for number 1. Simmons and KAT is a very close call, but I guess I am thinking for what Boston needs more.

    1. KAT

    2. KP

    3. Simmons

    4. Wiggins

    5. Okafor

    6. Parker

Man this was tough. Basically my top 4 are pretty interchangable.

KAT looks like he may be more NBA ready at the moment which is why I ranked him first. He has a chance to be a great two-way big.

Porzingis has looked good in his own right. The scary thing about KP is he basically has excelled in areas where scouts thought he would struggle (rebounding, defense toughness), and is struggling a bit with things we thought were his strengths (shooting). Once he bulks up a bit and his shot starts falling, man is he going to be scary.

The lack of a jump shot for Simmons scares me a bit, but I think even if it never develops he could still be a great player. His athletic ability for his size is just plain scary. And as mentioned above he is going to be a matchup nightmare in the NBA. If his jumper does develop we are talking about a top 5 player in the NBA some day.

Wiggins’ athleticism is just off the charts, and his defense is going to be otherworldy. He’s also showing me that he could be a primary scorer on a good team.

Okafor and Parker have some questions that put them a level below the top four for me. Okafor has a lot of questions on the defensive end, and I’d really like to see how he would function on a competant team. Parker is coming off a serious injury, and has yet to really put it together since coming back.

It’s definetly a great time to be a basketball fan with all these young exciting players coming into the league. I look forward to seeing how all of these guys progress, and Josh Jackson, Harry Giles, and Jayson Tatum in a few years as well.

    1. Porzingis. 7’3" means his shot is unguardable. Plus he has 3pt range.

    2. Towns. Similar to KP but shorter.

    3. Wiggins. Can flat out score, soar, and play lock down D.

    4. Simmons. Do it all point forward.

    5. Giannis. Also point forward style who is long. Just doesn’t read the game as well as BS.

    6. Okafor. Dominant offensive game.

    7. Parker. Melo type dominant scorer.

    8. Caboclo. 2 yrs away.

I’d rather not include Simmons on this list. He hasn’t even played an NBA game of any kind and has hardly played any college ball. From what I’ve seen I’ll take:

    1. Okafor – He’s dominant offensively, and is making more and more of his free throws. He will improve defensively.

    2. KAT – He’s been super impressive, but has gotten into foul trouble lately. Still so good.

    3. KP – Love his game and toughness. With added weight, who knows.

    4. Wiggins – I definitely thought Jabari would be better, and I’ll admit it looks like I’ll be wrong.

    5. Parker – Still a great player, and injuries have hurt him. We’ll see who ends up better.

I think you have to put the bigs first in this list. Great bigs are incredibly difficult to come by. I know most won’t like Okafor at the top, but I like him a lot. He is the most definite thing on this list to me.

     1.  KP – All of the reasons listed above, plus his mentality.  I am surprised at his toughness, agression, and overall killer instinct.  Him, and KAT are the most skilled in the group, and have the most upside.

    2. KAT – Strong, skilled post player who can shoot the three.  Fou prone but that will improve.  I also see him putting on another 40 pounds or so and becoming beastly strong.

    3.  Okafor – Although he plays on the worst team in the NBA, he is still putting up ROY numbers.  His FT shooting, while bad, is better than it was in college.  If he develops a midrange jumper, and improves his defense, he will be exceptional.  He is shooting 62% from within 3 feet, but is shooting 31% from 10-16 feet.  He actually took a 3 pointer though it may have been at the end of a period.  I think he would have even more ppg if the 76ers had a good backcourt and flowed the offense through him.  I could see him scoring 35 ppg.

    4.  Wiggins  – His athleticism never fails to amaze.  His defense is very good.  Shooting remains a concern as he is shooting 28% from three, and his FG% is even worse than last year at 42%.  For a guard of his talent level, this is too low.  Still looks like he lacks a killer instinct, and needs a shot of toughenup before every game.

    5.  Parker has failed to live up to the hype mainly because of injury.  In the first 15 games of the season this year, the Bucks win more games when Parker plays less minutes and takes less shots.  Go figure.

You must not watch too many Wolves games this year if you think Wiggins lacks a killer instinct. When games have been close in the fourth, the Wolves have gone to him and he’s taking over and has been the best player on the floor on more than one occasion.

"advance Analytics" be used after LESS than 20 games…. Those Analytics are Long Term patterns & basically they confirm what your eyes have told you in many cases…… Still conclusions need LOTS of Data… Meaning at least 2 Full seasons…..

So with just my eyes, I like the skill sets of both KAT & Zingy but what Worries me going forward is what worried me Before the Draft……

& that is NEITHER guy has the Lower body strength to Establish position in the Post at the Offensive end….. & Neither guy has the Strenth to keep NBA vets from just Bullying them on the Def end… sure they will get a couple blocks here & there but otherwise they get abused….

Another problem is that Neither will Ever be a #1 scoring option…. KAT has Wiggins & Zingy has Melo – which means No One is paying any attention…… & Neither EVER gets double teamed…. KAT has a better outside stroke….. but neither man can create their own shot…. Both men can raise up & shoot over people from 18 feet but that’s it……

Simmons is not in my ratings yet…. So I put Wiggins #1 Okafor #2  KAT #3 Parker #4 & Zingy #5…. In the NBA we Define a "Star" as a guy who Forces other teams to Double team him Every time down the floor…. The NBA is a League where Scoring is the Absolute Rarest of Skills….

I luv Wiggins skill set – he can get to the Rim any time he wants & he Commands a double team…. Okafor plays on the worst team I’ve ever seen w/ the worst guards I’ve ever seen… He’s double & triple teamed Every time he touches the ball & he scores 20 ppg anyway….. He’s 19… At 25, He’ll score 30 ppg… I have Never seen a Big man w/ that kind of ability around the rim….

I really like Parker’s ability to score…. & I wanted to put him 3rd…. But I want to wait till he gets going from his injury…. But he’ll be another guy who Commands a Double team….

I luv KAT’s intangibles but the Furst 3 I just mentioned will ALL be #1 options on playoff teams in their NBA prime… KAT & Zingy will NEVER be #1 options….. Golden State has Proven you don;t need a 7 foot shot blocker to win a Ring… The Moderrn NBA is about TEAM defense…. So your 7 footer better be able to score 20+ Every night & I don’t see KAT or Zingy Ever dominating the Post….

Put it this way Okafor’s 19 y/o Low Post scoring is Already Better than KAT or Zingy will EVER be,,,,
