For_Never_EverParticipantRondo in my opinion is the best defensive pg in the game vs Kyrie Irving one of the best scoring pg’s in the game. I believe Rondo is going to take the challenge and keep him from scoring more than 20 points tonight.

alex23Participantgambles way to much and as a result can let his man sink open shots , i always felt he was overrated defensively.

For_Never_EverParticipantSo who is the best defensive minded pg in the game right now, in your opinion ?

BostonkingsParticipantI watch plenty of Celtics games, Rondo may gamble and sometimes lose, but he is easily a premier defensive player and can stop his man in his tracks so I disagree with your statement… ^^^

alex23Participanthes a good defender but hes not the best in the league , maybe top 5 tho

BostonkingsParticipantI wanna know who your best defensive PG is then…..

druneave3ParticipantReally? Who you got alex23? Westbrook, Holiday, Rose, Paul….Rondo better than all of them.

For_Never_EverParticipantIn the first quarter Kryie was having every kind of trouble dealing with Rondo pressure. He was passing the ball every single time Rondo decided to go in second gear mode on him.

For_Never_EverParticipantKryie isn’t having his usually game so far with only 4 points, Rondo has been on him the whole game also.

kingofbumsParticipantavery bradley used to be a pg and may play some back up pg this year so avery bradley is better than rondo. the only issue i have with rondo is that he doesnt try sometimes and slacks off kinda like westbrook on the defensive end

For_Never_EverParticipantkryie is starting to light it up now since, Rondo got on the bench.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantIt’s Chris Paul his instincts are off the chart, and when you factor in that he doesn’t have the height, quickness, or monster length that rondo has, you’ll understand just how good on D he is. Don’t listen to these bias Boston fans(bostonkings).

For_Never_EverParticipantKryie has very good height. He is a legit 6’3 pg.

alex23Participantalso i feel russell westbrook can potentially be the best down the road
0- Posted on: Wed, 12/19/2012 - 5:45pm #734391

druneave3ParticipantReally. Good instincts, gambles a lot though. Rondo is a smarter defender, and his size, length, and strength combined with those smarts make him the best defender in the league. Paul is too small in the long run. Bigger guards like Holiday, Westbrook, Rondo and Rose can guard bigger players, be a defensive post presence, and can defend the rim in transition. Paul doesn’t do those things very well due to his stature. Derrick Rose murders chris paul. Rondo does a much better job of containing him. Chris Paul-great defensive player but I would rank a number of guys over him because of his size.

For_Never_EverParticipantRondo isn’t one of the bigger pg’s. He is up there with speed with anyone though. Athletically is very good, I would rank him being an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10 given his height. The thing that sets him apart from everyone is his arm length and hand size. However that is likely the reason why he has always been a poor shooter.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantthat helps, a guy like KG or a Chandler in the middle talking makes guys that are serviceable on the defensive end look good. I’m only at the end of the first but Kyrie’s passiveness had a lot to do with Waiter’s having a good first quarter. I do agree with kingofbums, in general that Rondo is a elite defender, but he does take plays off ala Westbrook.
0- Posted on: Wed, 12/19/2012 - 4:46pm #734371

For_Never_EverParticipantI normally would agree, but this year Boston defense is mediocre. KG usually only plays under 30 minutes now because of his age.

For_Never_EverParticipantKyrie proved me wrong. I think he ended up with 21 points. He did get a very very fast 6 points, when Rondo got on the bench.

Cavaliers420ParticipantDidn’t catch the game but saw the box score, Kyrie finished with 22. Sadly again we didn’t win.

Meditated StatesParticipantRondo usually keeps guys below their average. Yes he gambles sometime but he is the best PG on D man be serious.
