bendonahowerParticipantHas anyone been following Quincy Roberts at Grambling State?
Leading scorer in the SWAC finished the season with a 31 point game despite being consistently double and triple teamed http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/colleges/roberts-scores-31-points-leads-grambling-state-over-alabama-aandm-75-72-in-overtime/2012/03/03/gIQArkDdpR_story.html
Ken Pomeroy wrote this tribute to Quincy saying he is the most valuable single player to any team in D1 basketball http://kenpom.com/blog/index.php/weblog/a_tribute_to_quincy_roberts/
What do you think about Quincy’s game?

B FreeParticipantListen Quincy, the leading scorer on the worst team in college basketball can not be the MVP of D-1 without him they win 1 game instead of 3

river09ParticipantHe can however be MVP of his team… This is the first time I’ve heard the name mentioned… Haven’t seen him play at all either..

bendonahowerParticipantI understand where your’e coming about St. John’s but between him getting his sea legs, an off-court concusions red that red shirted him for a season, a coaching change that changed the focus of the team away from Roberts’ skill set, and, in general, that players take time to mature, I don’t think his time at St. John’s reflects his current ability.
If I were a scout, I would be looking at players based on their skill level now now how good a player they were four years ago.

jones4threeParticipantNot sure where you got that info but Quincy had a good freshman season at SJU. He started a bunch of games, playing out of position at the point after Malik Boothe went down with an injury. Quincy scored a career-high 14 vs Miami I believe and was usually around 6 points, so there’s no way he had only 13 for the season. I wish he would have toughed it out and stayed there. After losing recruits to transfer and ineligibility, he could have played big minutes for the Johnnies this season. He is a legit D1 talent who had offers from A-10 schools when they found out he was transferring. He selected Grambling for reasons other than basketball. Not sure if he’s a pro prospect but if he continues to produce like this than he deserves a look.

Dwight LoveParticipantQuincy was the 4th leading scorer in Division 1 with a 22.7 scoring average.I wish that he played with Kyle O’Quinn of Norfolk St in the NCAA playoffs would have increased his chances of being drafted after they pulled off the upset over Missouri in the tournament.

Dwight LoveParticipantIn high school the position of point guard was his spot.

Dwight LoveParticipantThere were others schools that showed interest in him as well like Arizona State in the PAC -12.

I never said he scored 13pts in his freshman year. In the 09-10 season he scored 9pts in 36mins for the season and in 2010-2011 he scored 4pts in 31mins. He played a total of 8 games those two seasons. If this was because of injury it doesnt help that he pretty much missed two whole years of ball.
