He was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2012 NBA draft with the 38th overall selection of the draft. He’s playing next against Harrison Barnes and the Golden State Warriors. IMO, Q should’ve went back to Baylor for at least another 2 years. His shoot isn’t there yet and he doesn’t have any go to moves. His body is still under developed and he doesn’t have the quickness to guard his position (SG/SF). I like this kid but I fear he may have came out a little too soon, What are your thoughts?

I remember reading that Denver is going to "redshirt" him similar to how they did with Jordan Hamilton last season.  Denver would have to do some trades to free up pt for Miller but they have all the pieces for that already.  Like you said one to two years aways from meaningful production.  His acl wasn’t healed all the way so the hope is he will recover some speed, also he could at weight and be more of a combo forward rather than a swing.  I like his all around skill set and aggresive scoring mentality, all great scorers are confident to the point of cocky.

I think his best bet is to try and add more weight/muscle (15-25 lbs.) and maybe turn himself into a stretch 4. He’s only 19 so anything can happen and George Karl is just the kind of coach he needs.

I agree with most of what you guys said.  I wonder how effective he’ll be in the NBA.  He was a 6’9” 2/3 combo at Baylor and most of the games in which he went off he was playing against shorter lineups.  His lack of strength really hurt his ability to score at the 3 in college.

It’s not going to get any easier in the NBA and he lacks the lateral quickness to play the 2 at the next level.  He’s a tweener and unless he bulks up to at least 225 or so he’s going to be stuck as a situational rotation player.

This is true, but as I see it (only my opinion) whatever " Star Quality " he had is long gone from a production standpoint. I don’t see him playing more than 20 to 25 Minutes (Peak) for a middle of the road/contender type team and averaging maybe 10-14 points (Peak) I don’t see him as much of a rebounding big so maybe 4-5 rebounds (Peak) and he’s not much of a playmaker either so assists are really meaningless to my statements. I would say his ceiling is Anthony Randolph and his floor is Austin Daye

He never played the 2 at Baylor. The man is a 3/4 with very good potential. Not sure if it was a bad decision to leave because of further injury risk but that could happen to anyone, I understand why he left.

I agree, but honestly I think after he tore his ACL it was a wrap. Before he even played a collegiate game his stock was on the decline. Staying probably would’ve boosted his stock because he would’ve gotten more opportunities when Anthony Jones and PJ3 declared for the draft. He would’ve had enough time to recovery from his injury fully and develop a more potent offensive skill set. All of his moves are predictible and he doesn’t have a reliable jumper to keep the defense honest. They are going to man-handle him in the post and he doesn’t have any blow-by ability. I know every man has his reasons but him declaring early surely didn’t help matters.

Sure he did. I watched quite a few Baylor games and although it wasn’t his primary position, they did run a Jackson, Miller, Jones, Jones III, Acy lineup at times.

He still didn’t play the sg position he played up top on the zone on defense very rarely. I watched Bayr as well and he was never a shooting guard in enough minutes where anyone can say he was a 2/3. That’s like saying T.Rob was. 3/4 because Kansas played 2 centers with him sometimes?

No one ever says Miller is a 2/3 not even when he was in H.S. he’s a 3/4 though

I agree she should’ve stayed, but I don’t think he would’ve been in consideration for top 5 in 2013, let alone top 15-20. He was overrated coming out of HS, and the ACL injury set him back a bit.

I agree w/ Quincey. I’m not sure if he played the 2 in college, but I think he’ll be more of a 3/4 in the NBA. No way can he guard 2’s. I don’t even think he can match up w/ 3’s and 4’s in the pros. I think he’d be better off gguarding 4’s though even w/ his slight frame. His lateral quickness isn’t ideal for either position defensively, but it’ll match up better w/ 4’s.

He is looking out of place out there, I don’t see him doing anything that’ll get him on the floor anytime soon. His shot is off and in terms of the game as a whole, he doesn’t even seem involved.

Yea that ACL tear was a real shame.  Even before the tear he was never considered an elite athlete, but the injury has really turned him into an sub-par athlete by NBA standards.  Has no blow by speed, and doesn’t jump very high.  Of all the players who declared this year I was most dissapointed by Millers’.  He just wasn’t ready at all and will have a very difficult time cracking the rotation of the Nuggets over the next 2-3 years.  I’m pulling for him just because I’m a fan of basketball in general and would like to see as many players as possible reach their potential.  Sadly, I don’t think Quincy Miller will ever reach the level that everyone was predicting for him during his high school career.

If you dont think he can play the 2, He surely can play the 4. Hes not built for banging both mentally and physically imo. If he could tighten that handle I could see him playing to down the line . I see him as a lot less athletic T-mac in terms of the types of layshe tries or wants to make,

Denver is so crowded on the wing  so I worry hell ever break through to shine but I feel he has 2nd tier star potential down the road just not sure how long.

At worst I see the Portland version of Travis Outlaw

I think he has star potential (at the very least a very good starter downt he line), but likewise believe that Denver is the wrong spot for him given their depth at his natural position.
