The Scare Crow RisesParticipantTop 10 as of Today’s Mock Draft…
Ben Mclemore-JR Smith/Jason Richardson
Marcus Smart-Deron Williams/Gilbert Arenas
Otto Porter-Jeff Green
Nerlens Noel-Marcus Camby/Joakim Noah
Shabazz Mohammed-James Harden
Anthony Bennett-Larry Johnson/Elton Brand
Cody Zeller-Tom Chambers/Christian Laetner
Alex Len-Spencer Hawes
Victor Olapido-Tony Allen
Willie Cauley Stein-Alonzo Mourning0 - Posted on: Mon, 03/11/2013 - 8:40pm #754556
The Scare Crow RisesParticipantWillie C. STEIN is most likely going to end up more like Ryan Hollins than Alonzo, but if he were to put it all together I could see him being a force on defense

drk3351ParticipantDecent comparisons for the most part but Muhammad isn’t in the vicinity of harden. Remember as a great player harden was ok with the 6 man role in ok’d, doubt Muhammad would be willing to do that sort of thing. Also wcs a prospect who may be out of the league in a few years and your comparing him to Alonzo?

r377ParticipantI will throw some more out there
Porter – Batum, Prince. A raw Scottie Pippen coming out of college (not the all-star he turned to be)
Noel – Mutombo, Chandler0- Posted on: Mon, 03/11/2013 - 10:49pm #754568
King CaluchaParticipantI can see some Luol Deng on Porter.

MkadozaParticipantI see Zeller as a smaller Brook Lopez.

JoeWolf1Marcus Smart isn’t the scorer Arenas is, he has more early career Kidd/Rondo in his game as far as getting to the rim, using his size athletic tools to get boards and be kind of a do it all point guard that can go off offensively, but I don’t see him as a big scorer in the NBA. More of a guy, who in his prime, could be a 14 ppg 6 rpg 9 apg 2 spg player, and a guy who could play that role for an elite NBA team, with a 20+ ppg scorer.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantAnyway, I can see some Corey Brewer in Otto Porter’s game currently, but I think he’ll round out to be a Jeff green like player at the sf and pf position, he just has to work on his handle and outside shooting
Cody Zeller doesn’t strike me as a Lamarcus Aldridge type of player at the Pf/C position, he reminds me of Tom Chambers/Chris Laetner with a better feel for the game, I can see become a pretty good starting Pf, the Cavs should draft this guy to pair up with his big brother Tyler and Tristan Thompson down low, the Cavs will find their Sf in Free Agency or next year’s Draft class(Wiggins, Parker or Randle)
I thought of the Stackhouse/Shabazz comparison but i think Stack was more of a slasher than Bazzy is, and i still think people should watch more of James Harden at Arizona State
Alex Len is a going to become a Spencer Hawes like C, he’ll float around the outside and give you half his effort thus only playing up to his potential on rare occasions like last night (Hawes dropped 24 and 10 on All Star c Brook Lopez)
Anthony Bennett looks like an Ox down low, has a nice mid range jumper and can extend his range a little bit, he can also put the ball on the deck and drive pass a slower defender, he also has long arms that can help with blocked shots and rebounding in the NBA, I can see the Larry Johnson comparison but Im thinking he’ll be more of a poor man’s Elton Brand by the end of his 3rd season
Marcus Smart looks like a great one on one scorer, he’ll need to extend his range and sure up his ball handling ability and passing skills, but he looks like a poor man’s Deron williams already, he could become a special PG if he puts it all together and gets in great shape and attacks the Summer like a Beast
Nerlens Noel looks like a Camby clone to me, right now he’d be ,ore Joel Anthony if he was the NBA but within a few years he’ll be an anchor on D for some lucky Team, Injuries and Weight will always be an issue but talent and hard work can over come those obstacles
Ben McLemore looks like JR Smith with a High BB IQ, he’s a super smooth athlete and can finish above the rim or hit the 3 from any where, his athleticism will help him on D and rebounding on the Pros, I just want him to want to be better than he is now, because he can play some decent minutes in the NBA right now, I just don’t want him to get too comfortable in his abilities like JR Smith did
Victor Olapido feels like a future glue guy, not the guy you ideally draft in the Top 10 but he’ll be a player you can grow with and will never hurt the Team with lack of effort, Tony Allen strikes me as a close comparison because of his Defense, Rebounding and Intangibles at the highest level, he helped change the culture in Memphis and Olapido could help a team in the same way MKG will help the Bobcats eventually
Willie Cauley Stein is a tough player to gage, but I can see him being better than Noel down the Road, maybe Im just expecting him to break out like Davis, Noel, Patterson and Cousins did and become a high pick and valued asset to a Pro Team, players with his size and speed are rare, give him some tutelage and a few more seasons to develop and he could be a Very Good c in the modern Era of the NBA…Worst case scenario he becomes a rotational C like Ryan Hollins, Ian Mahimini and others like him….

ilike.panochasParticipantJames Harden was a playmaker coming out of Arizona St, averaging 4APG. Besides the similar body structure, I don’t see how Shabazz keeps getting the Harden comparison. Harden was/is also
A playmaker on defense with his steals.0- Posted on: Tue, 03/12/2013 - 9:56am #754671
Olynyk 4 NPOYAgreed.
I dont understand.0

usfballerParticipantCody Zeller wishes he had the hops Tom Chambers had and half the jump shot Laetner had. Plus the Harden/Shabazz comp was off to me. Harden has always been a much better shooter and a far more efficient penetrator than Baz. WCS is a gazelle like athlete who looks every inch of 6’11-7′ and you compared him to quite possibly the best enforcer the league has had since the 90’s who could barely crack 6’10 on a phone book. Those three were just too far off for me.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantShabazz hasn’t been allowed to showcase that part of his game at UCLA but I feel in the NBA he will have more chances to play the lane for steals and handle the ball from time to time, Shabazz is an under rated outside shooter and defender right now… WCS best case scenario would be to add toughness to his game and become an enforcer, I will concede defeat on that Player Comp. It was an off the cuff Best case type of thing but whatever…People seem like they forget Harden was a bit chubby at Arizona State and had some of the same weaknesses as Mohammad early on…He got in great shape in the NBA, with Shabazz’s work ethic I can see him doing the same thing, I would actaully find it quite funny if The Thunder traded up(Using their pick and the Raptors pick plus Eric Maynor and nabbing Shabazz to replace Harden longterm, Shabazz and Lamb splitting time at Sg would be scary good in OKC)

Sewok15ParticipantShabazz hasn’t been allowed to play passing lanes? Why do Drew, Adams and Anderson all average twice as many steals as him then? Even the 300 Lb. Josh Smith averaged more steals than Bazz when he was on the squad. People need to face it that Shabazz is a great scorer but that is where it stops. He doesn’t even think of passing most times. I think from a talent standpoint he is top 3 but with the questions about him as a teammate I wouldn’t take a chance on him with the top 7.
