Today I saw DeAndre Ayton post on instagram a video of his max vertical leap. The caption said "7 foot, 260 with a 43.5 inch vert". I feel as if Ayton is very underrated as a prospect this year due to the clear depth of this years top 5. Hopefully his intensity matches his physical profile and offensive touch because if so he should be heavily in consideration for the #1 pick.

That’s the problem.. its well noted his intensity doesn’t match his physical profile. Hopefully Sean Miller can bring some more effort out of him, but thats been the biggest drawback on him since he was getting hyped as as the best prospect in all of high school back when he was a freshmen, he doesn’t always give enough of a crap about the game. And when you have a number of other potentially franchise changing guys who could all be clear cut number 1 picks themselves in a different year in Bagley, Porter and Doncic, and even Bamba to an extent, character flaws are what make the difference, because these guys all have amazing skill/athletic ability.

I think he is pretty accurately rated just below the top 3 of Bagley/Doncic/Porter, not like there isn’t plenty of time between now and next June for him to rise past that rating. Just has to bring his lunch pail to Arizona and bust his ass every possession, every training session, to show he’s the best.

Physical tools don’t mean shh if you have no effort, intensity, etc. Example, Andre Drummond.

He’s a Rasheed Wallace talent but lacks that intensity and will to dominate.

Yeah, he’s like a blend of Wallace and Stoudemire…. Has the face up game like Stoudemire with the passing of  Wallace and shooting of both. More length than Stoudemire but doesn’t have the defensive skill and IQ that Wallace had. The thing he has to work on is having a post game and seal and screen, which is nonexistant, that could take him into the stratosphere of being 25 PPG+ scorer that he could be. He physically has to show on the offensive end to really get him there. He’s still in the running to be the No. 1 pick because of those physical tools are just so absured. I got him a little over Bagley, since Bagley really can’t play up at center with his lackluster 7 foot wingspan as oppose to Ayton’s 7-5. Hopefully, he lands in a good situation in the NBA. I really think he’s perfect for Boston but they kind of gave it away with the Cavs trade and the Lakers are probably not landing in the 2-5 slot with all their upgrades this off season.
